Re: 2465 Calibration

Hi Greg,

I have not seen any en-masse R/E/W refresh behavior for the ER1400 in the 2465. Most (or all) of the ER1400 is read on boot to verify the checksum but that probably doesn't count as a refresh.

The only somewhat periodic writing that's done is saving "soft" front panel settings. By "soft" I mean things that don't have a physical position that can be re-read on power-up such as coupling, cursor visibility, trigger source, etc. Whenever any soft setting is changed, the 2465 sets a timer for 10 seconds. When the user stops making changes and the timer expires, the settings will be written to the ER1400. (An unobvious consequence of this is if you change a setting and turn the scope off in less that 10 seconds, the setting will be gone; that's usually not a big deal or even noticed.)

Tek appears to be fairly conservative in writing to the ER1400 perhaps to maximize the life expectancy.

Mark,

The spec on the GI ER1400 data sheet does indicate that the data is retained
for a minimum of 10 years but does not indicate if that is when the device is
never accessed/written to over that time period. By chance does the 2465
scope processor refresh the contents of the EAROM through a periodic R/E/W
cycle (i.e. each time when powered up, contents altered, etc.)?
