I thought I had responded to this but the reply seems to have disappeared!
So these videos were very helpful but for my purposes I don't need to actually remove the multiplier from the machine (or the CRT), only free it from the A15 so the borad can be removed for service. So I have been able to do that and I'm in the middle of re-assembly and hoping I get it all correct with nothing left over!!!
The multiplier screen box was a tricky one and needed a bit of juggling. Handy tip about the colour-coding on coax cable sockets!
The scope looked like it was going through open-heart surgery for a while with boards removed and cables hanging all over.
I've had to replace a Sprague elco (C926 O/C) and also U712 on A15 (+55V not adjustable... too low), replace a scavenged C418 on the A13 timing board and also repair R272 pot (time variable) due to some severe frontal impact on the knob/shaft at some time in the past. The pot shaft was badly bent and the pot slider connection sheared off!! There's nothing to prevent that happening it seems and the pot is simply mounted on its wires with zero mechanical support. Looks like a very poor design.... unless someone in the past did another bad job.
I managed to straighten the shaft and do some surgery on the pot body to access the remains of the slider wire and solder a short piece of tinned copper wire to replace the original.... a real bodge-up but needs must when the devil drives! If it IS broke then DO fix it is my maxim!
I have a feeling there are going to be a few more problems to resolve yet on this scope which I had used as a parts mule but I'm trying to get the best of two mules up and running (I have one good 468 already).
