Actually I was able the get back to it a bit this weekend, and odds now I read
-161V at pin 3. And it is not significantly changing when turning the high
amplitude down.

It's still an open question what's going on here. Later on you checked S242B, but did you also check that the wiper of R246 is not open circuit?
