Barry,
The patent shows a socket that was not widely used. The Berg socket was in common usage by mid 1970s. Early transistor sockets (a.k.a. ¡°mud¡± because of color and crumbly structure) were being replaced with Berg sockets during that period as well.
There might be a few variations on the Berg socket length but they are indeed ¡°miniserts.¡± Tektronix would likely have used only one type.
I think Berg was the first owner/manufacturer, followed by DuPont, Amphenol and FCI ( not necessarily in that order).
You can scavenge from a Berg-socketed transistor and just solder the transistor in place, or I can send you one or you can get some fresh ones from David P.
