Re: Basic Question Regarding Triggering Level for 7B50/7B70/other Timebases

Sorry - I made another mistake.

This line:

"As examples (applies to either + or - LEVEL):"

Should have been:

"As examples (applies to either + or - SLOPE):"

Thanks,
Barry - N4BUQ

Subject: [TekScopes] Basic Question Regarding Triggering Level for 7B50/7B70/other Timebases
With the timebase MODE set to NORM, is it the expected behavior that the SLOPE
control corresponds to the full-scale (8 divisions) on the CRT?

As examples (applies to either + or - LEVEL):

If an 8-division waveform is displayed on the CRT, then the LEVEL control should
trigger virtually anywhere between the top and bottom of the indicated
LEVEL/SLOPE markings on the front panel.

If a 2-division waveform is centered on the CRT, then the LEVEL control would
need to be fairly close to the centerline as indicated on the LEVEL/SLOPE
markings on the front panel.

If a 2-division waveform is displayed between the top two divisions, then the
LEVEL control should be very close to the top of the LEVEL/SLOPE markings and
if that same 2-division waveform is between the bottom two divisions, then the
LEVEL control should be very close to the bottom of the LEVEL/SLOPE markings.

I know that's probably a very basic question but I want to make sure I
understand that correctly. The illustrations in the manuals only seem to cover
the case where the MODE is set to AUTO P-P (which I think is clear enough) but
they don't seem to cover the NORM mode. I've been troubleshooting some
triggering issues in my 7B50 and this will help clarify some of that for me.

Thanks,
