Re: 2901 owners, I need your help.

Hi,I was concerned about the bridge rectifier temperature when I first got mine, I have since taken it off the pcb as was beginning to discolour with the heat and I have placed it on the metal chassis and it all works well now .

I replaced all the electrolytics in the power supply and the bridge rectifier checks okay. The thing just runs hot, but it works. These old pre 7400 Motorola TTL chips seem to be very power hungry. About 90% of the current drawn at the power supply goes away when I pull the logic chips.

Maritn,

By the photo of your piece on the 140 site, the 5200mfd electrolytic is the
axial type with the clear plastic sleeve. These types are known to go bad. I
will automatically replace any that are this style. A 5600 or 6800mfd Nichicon
UHE will be a good choice. The other filter can can be this style also if you
replace it.
