I bought two 576's from ebay, paid $400 for one, excellent physical condition, just needed new filters. The other was $350, again excellent physical condition, just needed test fixture. Watched on-line for a week and bought a couple for $50, no other work needed.
Good bargains do show up but you need to have patience.

The problem with those ebay units is that they are not verified working. And many (most?) are _obviously_ not working.
I need a tool, not another project. I posted here because I thought there's a better chance of finding a WORKING one on Tekscopes.
Either directly from a member, or at least someone here would know of good unit for sale and they could point me to it.
I know what they're worth too. There's a pretty wide range, but it's not $500 and it's not $5000.00. My price is different than your price, I'm sure.
But I'm not out to rob anybody. I want to pay a fair price. I have to find one first before the conversation can start!

I'm sure that most people in this group have a very clear idea of what
those items are actually worth. But every group occasionally has someone
drop in that is hoping to get a steal, ah hem, "bargain" and that thinks
that there are people in the group that will sell them one for a fraction
of it's E-bay value. There is one guy on EEVBlog that pops up at least once
every year and posts ads wanting cheap Fluke 9100 systems. The Classic
Computer mail list also has them.
If anyone truly *wants* an item like this, there are plenty of them
listed on E-bay. They just have to bite the bullet and pay the price. I
recently bought a 576 via E-bay and paid what is probably what most people
would consider an *obscene* price for it but it was complete (including
adapters) and working and I was tired of looking for an "affordable" one so
I bought it and I don't regret it. The price on Tek Curve Tracers, and the
adapters and parts, will just continue to rise IMO so better to buy one now
even if it was *expensive*.
The fact that no one even offered to sell him a 576 speaks *volumes*
about their desirability.
My 2 cents worth,

Wow. That "want-to-buy" effort went south fast! :)
Not a single peep from potential sellers or bounty hunters.
But at least we're learning a few things about Freon.
And it does illustrate some of the reasons I want to upgrade to a p6015a.
