What has people's experience been with the giant power filter caps?

Do they tend to be bad after this many decades from age?
I recently repaired a 475 -- an early one, given relatively the low serial
number, 102863? -- that appears to have working original filter caps.
Ripple is within spec.

To get it working, I had to replace 2 shorted tantalum caps on the +15v
rail, an op-amp IC in the power supply and a FET in the sweep section, but
the big filter caps were fine.

I do wonder whether or not I should replace them as preventative
maintenance.
