Re: LCR Meter Recommendations Sought

I have had the Blue ESR meter from Anatek:
for a number of years. It is easy
to use and has only one button for on/off and zeroing the meter lead
resistance. Once "calibrated" you do not have to touch the meter during
use. Just put the probes across the DUT (Device Under Test) and read the
results.

I recall there was a meter I liked better (don't recall which one) but it
required the operator to press a button for every measurement. That would
get quite tedious even when working on loose capacitors and more so when
troubleshooting a PCB or chassis.

The device also serves as a very low resistance ohmmeter, reading down to
considerably less than one ohm. BTW, a good use for the "milliohm"
measuring capability of these meters is to track down shorted bypass caps
on a PCB power bus as well as locate other shorted components. The ESR
meter is also useful for locating shorts in "unknown" coax cable and/or
their connectors.
