Page 2-16 of the manual discusses External Horizontal Deflection. The X signal
can be applied to either channel 1 or the external trigger input depending on
the settings. Channel 2 becomes the Y signal input.

For testing purposes, no signals are needed and the beam position is adjusted
with the position controls. Do not allow the stationary beam to operate at high
intensity burning the CRT phosphor. Normal viewing intensity is safe.
