I don't doubt that it would be strong enough but it needs to go over to the right and then bend down so that the pax can use it similar to a stick coming out of the floor.? ?Just sticking the dowel

Silly question¡but why not use the dowel itself as the stick? Pretty common with WW1 era craft. Plenty strong.

Keith, thanks for the compliment, that little gray box is my carb ice detector, back when I was learning to fly I had a carb ice issue that almost got me killed and have always been fearful of carb
