Re: Replacement Main Sail
Hi Bob, I have hull 171 we're sisterships!? so your boat is one of the few T27's built by WD Schock in Ca. Please post up some pictures of your boat in my WD Schock Roll Call thread. Where are you located? There is a place in Newport Beach called Minney's I would check there. Ive only had my boat for a couple of months and haven't had a chance to go through the sails that came with my boat. The main that is currently on mine is either not quite the right size or has a pretty blown out foot...

Re: Looking for Tiller Assembly
开云体育Chris One thing with these older boats. The builders used the mostly the same manufacturer for a lot of the hardware. I look for almost a year on line for my rudder parts. I just like Bacon because they are located in Annapolis the sail boat center of the world (my opinion) Edison hardware is second to none. I plan on Purchase the shaft coupler from them. It will cost $350 I believe. Any way good luck. If you live close to Annapolis or have friends near by you could stay with overnight you might to pay Bacon a visit. When I was there they several rudder head fittings? Ted? Sent from my iPhone On Jul 31, 2017, at 7:40 PM, chris blasucci tartan2767@... [T27Owners] <T27Owners@...> wrote:

I'm getting closer! Got the stuck valve unstuck, compression is now roughly 90 in all four cylinders. Cleaned out the carb once and it fired right up and ran beautifully for about 10 seconds then died... Then could only start and run with starting fluid. I'm thinking even though I am using good gas in a temporary tank, something must have made its way in and clogged it up somewhere... Will clean it again... Is there supposed to be a spring or a wire ?holding in the inlet valve with the float? If there is it is missing. ?I also need a new alternator. Any good options out there? Then I need to sort out the fuel line, pump, filters and valves. Here is a quick video of it starting with starter fluid. |

Thanks for connecting the dots for us with Russ Cobb.? He seemed like quite a guy and sailor, what little I knew of him from online forums etc.? I wish him smooth winds over the horizon. ? I take it you have his boat which he modified a bit for blue water sailing.? And yes, we are all quite curious to see any pictures you can provide of Hygelig; especially the modifications to the hull deck joint at the pointy end of the boat.? IIRC, he rounded/faired the lip created by the hull deck joint to make it continuous, without a projecting lip like most of our boats have; this to minimize impact when impacting larger waves.? I guess I was never really clear in my mind whether Russ Cobb actually sailed his boat to Samoa (where he was back when I remember interchanging with him) or had it shipped.? Knowing what I think I know about him I'd guess he did sail perhaps first to Hawaii, then Samoa, then ultimately the Phillipines.? Why would he have modified it for ocean sailing and then pay to have it shipped ? He wouldn't have chosen to ship it, I think.? In any case godspeed Mr. Russ Cobb. Our boats are built very tough.? Mine managed to bang up against a major bridge across the Hudson River (Tappan Zee bridge) and only get dinged up a good bit.? They are also very easy to sail once you understand their limitations, which comes to a skipper quickly.? When you compare our boat to the Nor'sea 27' which was built as a blue water cruiser you will find that our boat (T27) is a more nimble sailor and built almost as tough, if not as well as. I just don't have a yearnings to do a lot of blue water cruising in my T27.? I want to fix it up for coastal cruising again - possibly club racing too. Thank you Ron for becoming the new custodian to Russ Cobb's T27.? And thanks for joining our group! Best, Caleb Davison T27 #328 Odalisque NY -----Original Message----- From: RC sailor24u@... Hi ! Just a note regarding the offshore capabilities of these lovely yachts. My recently acquired 27-2 sailed here ( the Philippines ) from North Carolina. Maybe there are others that have done similar passages ? Ron

Re: Looking for Tiller Assembly
Try Captain Jim's Salvage in Portland , ME. they are on craigslist. I have purchased many parts from them . Nice guys will negotiate. They have cut up and salvaged at least 3 T 27's They have a plethora of sail boat stuff , with parts from those T 27's. I got a center board for $150.00 that needs hardly any work I know they have ports , mast , rudder interior , hatches ...etc. pretty sure they have a rudder head !
