There are a few good reasons that lifelines are ss cable or amsteel. If hit it cannot kink like ss tubing and it is also lighter by a lot. On a 50' boat it is viable but still not a great idea in my

Used sail to fit raised boom -- dimensions

It looks like you are in the ball park. the main thing is will your boom ride low enough for the 5 inch diference in luff? the foot is about 2 inches so probably ok on the boom Also if it is a great
