There are a few good reasons that lifelines are ss cable or amsteel. If hit it cannot kink like ss tubing and it is also lighter by a lot. On a 50' boat it is viable but still not a great idea in my opinion.

Has anyone ever considered replacing their lifelines with solid tubing?? I am thinking about doing this myself and I am curious as to other experiences.
