Re: Adapting the "Race" sail rig for two people
The height of the boom is determined where you tie the halyard. So yes it¡¯s easy to tie a clove hitch and raise the sail. If you want it higher or lower, retie the halyard in a different place.

Re: Adapting the "Race" sail rig for two people
Your headroom is determined by where you tie the halyard to the upper spar,
and where the gooseneck is clamped to the lower spar (boom). These are

Re: Adapting the "Race" sail rig for two people
The spars and sail are the same. We set our rig high, and it works great in light winds, and even heavy winds with the right Skipper on the tiller.
Set the gooseneck about 22 inches back from the

Hi,
I ordered a "race rig" Sunfish in case I ever want to race it (plus I like the "window" in the sail) but for now plan to sail it for fun taking another tall adult with me. Will I be able to

Re: Where to go for parts!
I think if there was more interest in dinghy sailing, there would be more
parts and more dealers and a robust manufacturer. I am amazed there is a
new parts source at all.

Re: Where to go for parts!
Exactly, the wooden daggerboards have two wooden pieces at the top, one on each side. They are the same no matter the shape of the board.?

Re: Where to go for parts!
Do you sell the little wooden bits that go at the top of the daggerboard? With the cutouts for your fingers to grab? I need four of those is you make them.Tom?

It's a shame we have lost so many competent dealers over the years due to the dysfunction with the current manufacturer.

I have found that a lot of places the last few years have had trouble stocking parts. The only place I have had consistent luck with parts is sunfishdirect.com?

Re: Preventing sheet from sagging
I would try a couple of bungee cords or plastic zip ties and I would call the item a sheet lead.

Re: Preventing sheet from sagging
A low cost option might be to use a plastic zip tie or two - or even a loosely tied bungee cord.
I would call it a main sheet lead for the boom.

If you really want cheap mainsheet hangers. Just use a long loose loop of line tied to where you want the hanger. If you don¡¯t want it to move. Tape it in place.
You can also use a loop of duct
