Re: For Sale--Sunfish

I made my tiller the standard length but ?with a 16 inch pivoting extension.? Works fine for me, as a ?non competitive sailor that likes to go fast when I can.? I have Ken’s book and recommend it for all Sunfish owners.? I ‘ve had 4 different small sailboats (dinghies) and the Sunfish is the most versatile, easy to rig, pretty fast, fairly stable and easy to right.? The people who designed this little boat pretty much got it right the first time.? It is no wonder that it is the most popular dinghy ever made.

That’s Ken Lewis’ site.? He also published a book called The Sunfish Manual that can be found on Amazon and is particularly useful for owners of older fishes.? He’s quite active on this forum.

[Edited Message Follows]

I found the correct dimensions online somewhere. Actually I think it was from one of the people that regularly posts on this site ()

I made the tiller longer and tried sailing with it and found it was too long as it would hit my backside when I sat at the back of the cockpit. I would recommend making the tiller longer and see what works for you. As mine was for a sunfish clone my length. might not work you you.
