Oil pressure light coming on sporadically

开云体育

Are there factory oil pumps not ok? I keep reading people’s side notes that seem to point this direction but haven’t seen any clarity or specifics. I have to put a new one on the short block I purchased from Subaru and am contemplating one of the pricier options available from multiple vendors where they take them apart and port etc and put it back together so it’s more reliable somehow.

Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions. 2002 2.5 NA SOHC btw if that matters?

If you find no other answers, definitely remove the oil pan and check the oil return pick-up tube.
?
I have a 1987 doka with a '92 ej-22 that was installed by MasterCraft Motors in Santa Barbara, CA? in 2009.
?
In 2013 I started hearing a very slight rattle sound that would come and go and sounded like loose valve lifters.
This was kind of sporadic and over time became more pronounced.
I took it to a local shop and asked them to see if they could figure things out.
They found a directive that oil pumps should be resealed, so I had them do this.

I got a phone call from them to come down to their shop to see what they'd discovered.
They had been doing a test run of the engine when there was a loud banging sound and they immediately shut down the engine, pulled off the oil pan
and found the oil return pick-up tube had broken in half and fallen to the bottom of the oil pan.
?
My oil pan was a shortened pan, which they had been referring to as a 'Frankenstein oil pan'. When this pan was made the welding along the bottom edge
was rough, and the oil drain plug? was located right along this seam and was very difficult to seal without leaking.?
I'd tried to smooth it out with a file.
?
The oil pick-up tube had been shortened and was braised back together at a right angle.
Hanging down out of the bottom of the engine it was susceptible to engine vibration and eventually failed at this right angle joint and fell off into the bottom of the pan.
Luckily this occurred while at the mechanics shop and not somewhere out on the road, which most likely would have led to engine failure.
?
At the time I found a video on you tube discussing this issue.
Search on you tube for 'Subaru Oil Pick up failure, what you need to know' by MRT Performance.
?
I ended up replacing my oil pan and pick up tube with one from Out Front Motorsports.

?
d the doka up on the lift and?

Sorry. You said "CEL is NOT going off" which I interpreted to mean CEL is staying on.

I just remembered I had the issue after the first oil and filter change when I bought it way back in 2005. After reading many forums, I switched from Fram to WIX and have not had it happen again. It had something to do with how each filter controlled the oil flow.

I am pretty sure it was mentioned on this forum but you'd have to go through many posts, as this has been brought up before. Here are a few links to get you started:

The bad ground I mentioned earlier set off both the light and buzzer, btw.
