It is a long story, but here is a list of "larger" oil filters to
replace the one suited for a lawnmower that is stock on a 2.5L, a Bosch
3300 or ilk. You can thank a fellow on the WRX site and Autozone for

What is the issue with the new smaller version. I had to switch to the new tiny one when I changed my oil last week. I was surprised how small the new one is (Mobil 1 brand M0108 from a slightly bigger M0112 IIRC), but is there reported to be the problem with it or is it just a matter that it seems too small to be any good?

And you are sure about things like anti-flow back valves or a bypass valve
in case of a clogged filter ?

Some filters have things like that built into them.

It's not just the size of the treads and the gasket sealing surface shape.

More to it that that.
