2006 EJ25 in a 91 2WD Westy with auto tranny

We're trying to install this engine using a KEP engine support. We can't close the engine bay lid unless we had 2 inches spacers. Is that the only solution? Also looking for a steel exhaust manifold. Any help would be appreciated.
Best regards.

Can tell year , model, etc of the project?
Claudio

Sorry , it was on the subject!!!
I used the same engine support with ej22 and fix well, unless the ej25
is a taller engine.

Spacer, no way out with KEP support.

Are you guys saying an EJ25 is taller than an EJ22? Where would the spacers be placed?

Are you guys saying that all EJ25 engines require spacers or only if you use the Kennedy adapter?

Just with the Kennedy engine mount it seems.

I've got an EJ25 in my syncro using the smallcar engine mount system
and the deck lid is stock.

Has anyone had any issues closing the deck lid with the RMW installation kit and an EJ25 engine?

1. That completely sucks that you will have to use 2 in. spacers. 2. That completely sucks that the manufacturer of that mount did not make you aware of that fact in a responsible manner. 3. Has it become common practice to sell engine mounts that are incomplete? I understand these are kits and require on-site engineering now and then but WOW.

I will add that you can modify the front trans mount on a manual trans to lower the front of the motor without any ill effects. You can actually just add a spacer between the crossmember and the trans mount and longer bolts. CV angle is virtually unchanged. I suspect you can do the same thing on an auto trans. This may allow you to use than 2 in. spacers in the rear of the engine area. Hope that might help.

1. The problem is that the later 2.5 is ~2" taller than its predecessor.

2. Using the KEP Syncro mount rather than the 2wd mount should solve the problem, since the Syncro sits 2" lower.

3. Check with Hobert to verify. Having been in the business some 44 years now, previously a rocket engineer, I think he knows what he's doing.

4. Suck filter off.

Does anyone know what year the taller engines appeared? Is the difference in the intake assembly?

Not sure which year the change took place but yes ~ the height diff' is totally due to a taller IntakeManifold & Injector assembly.

05 first year (electronic gas pedal), 04 is the last year with the Impreza black plastic air plenum.

Typical intake until 05

Typical intake after 04

This is one reason that Hans from Vanaru design his own part.
We had it with the current "part provider" 2 years ago, we had to modified everything to fit late engine.

This was Hans first prototype:

(no more welding on the 2 side mount)
