Re: Best Engine 85 Vanagon
"Best" is a relative term and will depend on who you ask, what you want to get, how much you are willing to spend. And what you are expecting to get out of it. The 2.2 is nice engine, fits well, has

Re: vss
I'm just curious what is the problem with the Small Car VSS? It's designed to work with the Suby engine. Mine works perfectly on my 09 2.5 and gives a very accurate speed signal on the Scan gage.

Re: vss
The VW VSS feeding into the Dokota Digital SGI-5 and configured correctly does produce a correct signal for a subi 2002 Forester ej25 ECU.? I would imagine that it would work for other year/models as

Re: vss
I understand that basically all the common variants of the Vss we use in out conversions do not give the correct speed to pulse count. Generally this seems OK, but it is not ideal. Wonder what the

Re: Mystery of the disappearing oil
Yes, but that involves only the later engines, ~'05+, which have exhibited oil usage when equipped with the Small Car pan and dipstick. I don't believe conversions with other pans have weighed in with

Re: Mystery of the disappearing oil
I apologize for not putting the year of the engine, it is a 1997. Oil has not been overfilled, at least not while I have had it. The owner I purchased the van from was really good about maintenance,

Re: Throw out bearing travel
Fuzzy, I doubt you will find anyone on this list who has that info. It's not something that matters in the vast majority of SubaruVanagon conversions. If I needed the info you're looking for, I'd

Re: Mystery of the disappearing oil
If no smoke and no leaks, start with a new PCV valve. Often overlooked when engines (not just Subaru) are using oil.

Re: Mystery of the disappearing oil
You can easily have oil consumption with no blue or black smoke out the tailpipe, on any semi-modern engine with catalytic converter and electronic fuel injection. It it's not dripping out

Re: Throw out bearing travel
ALL the normally aspirated Subaru clutches are push type. They all interchange with each other, at least up to the mid 2000s, I understand. That is with the commonly used single mass fly wheel. All EJ
