The noise isn't coming from the ecu or pump/starter relays. It's actually coming from the fuel pump itself. It's the original wasserboxer pump, that maybe I should have swapped out when I did the ej22

Run a ground strap from the alternator and the starter ground to the chassis while you're at it.

Likely to be a relay under there as the ecu has no moving parts unless you’re hearing electrical popping in which case you’d want to figure that out really quick I think

I think (but I’m not 100 percent certain) that the tachometer is prewired in the main harness connection so nothing extra to plug or unplug, so unless one of the pins became bent or corroded it
