ECU number translation/harness

I am buying a new harness because it seems I have multiple shorts in the harness on the motor section between grey plug and sensor plugs. I have sourced several on the internet but seems like I should be using the ECU numbers to match with the harness. Can anyone tell me which numbers on the ECU correspond to match a harness ?

2000 Impreza 2.5L SOHC auto trans I think because yrs ago we did ground the parking brake wire. The number on ECU which I think is what I should use is : 22611 AF581. Other (all) numbers on ECU include (from top to bottom, left to right) M2, 22611 AF581, A18-000 DY5 9823.

The closest matching harness is 24020 AF531. So any guru advice out there on how to match up my ECU with a stock internet harness ?
I tried iWire.com but they wont build a custom harness even though they have all the plugs and wire. I am also open to other wire loom shops or ideas.

Re: Broken wire on crank sensor

You’re right. That 90 degree bend kills the crank sensor wires. On mine the cover was frayed and worn but the wires were intact. I re-wrapped them and hope for the best. ?

Re: Fuel rail pressure regulator

I have used a very similar version of a fuel pressure regulator with good luck.?
?
Also as you thought one of the connection is for the fuel, the other is Evap.? top is fuel supply bottom if Evap?

Broken wire on crank sensor

This seems to be a common issue. Likely due to location given the heat and vibration and the 90 degree bend of the cable right at the sensor it’s kind of doomed to fail. This is a sohc na 2.5, 2002.?

What I found on my harness is that the injector connectors are the same as the crank sensor connector, the wiring is copper shielded however so I was careful not to lose too much of the copper braid. I ended up soldering the ends of the wire or “tinning” them as it’s called and then used heat shrink crimped connectors and covered the whole thing in 3 to 1 glued heat shrink. While the heat shrink was cooling I put a 90 degree bend in the whole package so it wouldn’t be bent against its will down the road.?

Finally I tested the whole mess at the engine bay harness connector (grey one) for resistance with a sensor connected and got 1.9 kilo ohms which seems to be inline with what that sensor puts out.?

All in all stressful but it seems successful.?

Picture of before. I also added a picture of my rebuilt heads as that was a much more successful mission yesterday lol?

Fuel rail pressure regulator

Hi group, I need a bit of help,
?
Actually, on my Subaru/Vanagon conversion project, I am working around my EJ25-2011 fuel system. Here are my 2 questions :
?
  1. I am tempt to buy and install an Automotive 13129 injection fuel by-pass pressure regulator. Did some of you have an opinion or experience to share on this regulator ? Is this a good choice for the EJ25 application ?
  2. On the right side of the engine (facing crank pulley), between cylinders the air intakes, there are two fuel rail tubings. The first one is obviously for the fuel line pressure quick connector. The second one is a plain straight tube made to receive a slip-on rubber line and a collar. Is this some sort of fuel rail vacuum line ? Could you explain the function of this tube ? What should I do with it ?
Thanks for your help,
?

Re: EJ25 Injector testing?

I did not have my injectors serviced and I wish I had. I kinda thought my engine was ready to go but now I think I’ll pull the injectors and have them professionally serviced by Mr Injector. It’s going to be a lot easier now than it would be after the engine is installed.?

Warren’s Conversion - 2.1 Engine and Tranny Removal

I thought as I move to phase two of this project it would make sense to start a new topic related to pulling the engine and transmission from my 89 Westy.?
Hang with me as I’ll need some advice going forward ?Thanks!

Re: Warren’s Conversion

Now the engine is on the motorcycle lift and I’ll move it aside as I get started on the next phase.?

Re: Warren’s Conversion

I got the flywheel installed but when I tried to torque the bolts the engine wanted to turn (backward no less!). So I used my crank pulley tool to brace it.?

Okay, after reading directions more carefully the studs have to come out because they are replaced with bolts.?

I’m about to install the RMW adapter plate. I’m pretty sure those highlighted studs come out. Can someone confirm? ?Thanks!

Re: Warren’s Conversion

Here’s a shot of the engine on the motorcycle lift. It’s resting completely flat and stable on the RMW oil pan which is so robust I’m sure it’s suitable for the task.?

Re: Warren’s Conversion

I used pipe nipples and washers between the rails to keep the channel from getting bent when tightening the bolts. This whole idea was great for a Subaru engine but I’m not sure I would trust it on something like a big block V8.?

Re: Warren’s Conversion

So today I got the engine off the stand and onto the motorcycle jack that I intend to use when installing it in the bus. The Harbor Freight 1,000 pound engine stand and their 1 ton shop crane /hoist do not mate up. The problem is that the hoist, fully extended, will not reach anywhere near the engine to lift it from the stand. I thought about welding an extension to the jib to reach a bit farther but I was concerned that it would create a hazard and exceed the limit of the hoist. But someone on YouTube had a solution. They took the foldable legs off the hoist and, using 7inch bolts, mounted them on the outside. I did this and it worked perfectly.?

Hey Anthony.
I’ve got a pdf out on my website showing how I used the existing Vanagon wiring and tied my Subaru mil/cel light into the oxs circuit.
Here it is….

<IMG_8906.jpeg>I think I may have solved my issue. I found this black wire soldered to the blue wire mentioned by Busaru behind the fuse panel. Disconnected the wires and now my alt and oxs light come on when I turn the key and they both turn off when I start the car. Next up is wiring the CEL to the OXS light
