Re: EJ25 Injector testing?

Here's my test report. I shipped my injectors last Thursday and had them back in hand on Friday. Glad I did this; thanks for the rec.

Warren’s Conversion - 2.1 Engine and Tranny Removal

I thought as I move to phase two of this project it would make sense to start a new topic related to pulling the engine and transmission from my 89 Westy.?
Hang with me as I’ll need some advice going forward ?Thanks!

Now the engine is on the motorcycle lift and I’ll move it aside as I get started on the next phase.?

Re: Warren’s Conversion

I got the flywheel installed but when I tried to torque the bolts the engine wanted to turn (backward no less!). So I used my crank pulley tool to brace it.?

Re: Warren’s Conversion

Okay, after reading directions more carefully the studs have to come out because they are replaced with bolts.?

I’m about to install the RMW adapter plate. I’m pretty sure those highlighted studs come out. Can someone confirm? ?Thanks!

Re: Warren’s Conversion

Here’s a shot of the engine on the motorcycle lift. It’s resting completely flat and stable on the RMW oil pan which is so robust I’m sure it’s suitable for the task.?

Re: Warren’s Conversion

I used pipe nipples and washers between the rails to keep the channel from getting bent when tightening the bolts. This whole idea was great for a Subaru engine but I’m not sure I would trust it on something like a big block V8.?

Re: Warren’s Conversion

So today I got the engine off the stand and onto the motorcycle jack that I intend to use when installing it in the bus. The Harbor Freight 1,000 pound engine stand and their 1 ton shop crane /hoist do not mate up. The problem is that the hoist, fully extended, will not reach anywhere near the engine to lift it from the stand. I thought about welding an extension to the jib to reach a bit farther but I was concerned that it would create a hazard and exceed the limit of the hoist. But someone on YouTube had a solution. They took the foldable legs off the hoist and, using 7inch bolts, mounted them on the outside. I did this and it worked perfectly.?

Hey Anthony.
I’ve got a pdf out on my website showing how I used the existing Vanagon wiring and tied my Subaru mil/cel light into the oxs circuit.
Here it is….

Thanks! ?And thank you for moderating this forum and the wealth of information you’ve personally provided.
?
I learned so much from this forum (and the samba and YouTube) that I think it is appropriate to share the highs, lows, and how-tos of the process. When I start pulling the engine and tranny from the Vanagon I’ll photo document it as well.?

Alt light fix, 85 westy

Hi all, I’m trying to get the Alternator light working correctly as it currently stays on. I’ve looked at Weide guide but my 85 has a different style fuse panel and I have searched this group and can’t seem to find my answer.
?
Some background info:
85 westy
frankenmotor
previous owner installed solar and removed fridge.
?
Under the driver seat I found 2 blue wires (one labeled radio and the other unlabeled but screwed to the panel with a few other red wires and a wire labeled charger (one of these rant to the aux battery under the bench seat). I disconnected this blue wire and the alt light still stayed on after starting the car.?
?
I found this guide on Busaru as well as his supporting video on YouTube that might be a fix by installing a relay at the fuse panel by cutting the blue wire there (which I located on my van) but wanted to check with the group before cutting any wiring. Thanks in advance! This group has been an amazing resource!
