Re: Engine rapidly off/on/off/on/off/on at speed
John, If your speed sensor is set too far away you will get this problem. Same thing with Hall effect sensors. Put your sensor closer and you'll get better pick up. Good luck Terry Terry A Shaw On Thu, 2 Feb 2023 at 01:12, John Rodgers <jrodgers113@...> wrote:

Re: ECU reset
It's easy to reset ECU to factory settings.? This is especially needed after cleaning out all the gunk in IACV and Throttle body and new PCV valve and associated hoses.? Reason is:? ECU still has old info stored in it, as it was desperately trying to overcome gunk.? To delete all old info in ECU, you've got to drain all electricity stored in it's capacitors, which functions to maintain memory.? First, disconnect Negative at battery.? Second, run a jumper from Positive to that removed ground wire.? Let it sit overnight.? Hook back up.? Immediately RPM's will race towards 3000 or so.? Don't panic.? It will take about 20 cycles of startup, drive, shut down for things to settle down as ECU "learns" new parameters.? Now the ECU will do all the stuff it was designed to do. BTW...this info is for 2.2 motor....but I am sure it's similar for others.

I thought i had this procedure bookmarked ¡ how do you reset the ECU ? Remove pos a neg terminal connectors , then ground out the pos wire ? Recently had the power wire from alt to black box post shortened (it was overly long) and running hot to touch. This solved erratic idle issue and running rich at start. I still have some bogging at hard acceleration and very minor reving after warm up at a stop light. Yes my IAC is clean and im gonna have the TPS checked and set to proper voltage. Re: Engine rapidly off/on/off/on/off/on at speed
I argue this is basic for working condition, but I thought your issue was at 65 mph +.? Dont you already know it works at speeds below 65 mph ? I thought that was implicit or verified. Just trying to keep the troubleshooting focused on your issue, above 65 mph. Not discount advice :-) ? --? Sean G

That is an exact description of what seems to be happening.? Gives me an idea of what to do next. ¿ªÔÆÌåÓýMaybe reduce the speed sensor distance, making it closer and see if it stops. Easy, no cost , troubleshooting step.On Feb 2, 2023, at 5:52 AM, Casey LaCourse <caseylacourse@...> wrote:

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThis is common when the speed sensor isn¡¯t working. If you buy obd 2 scanner like an Ultragauge you can monitor vehicle speed. It won¡¯t be accurate but it is important. If the sensor isn¡¯t working it will read 0mph. Regards, Casey? 978-846-1765 caseylacourse@... On Feb 2, 2023, at 1:23 AM, John Rodgers <jrodgers113@...> wrote:

Engine rapidly off/on/off/on/off/on at speed
Subject says it all. Have 2.5 installed with Precis ECU the harness conversion done by Busaru. Stock '91 auto tranny and stock 14 inch wheels. At 65 mph and above the engine starts bucking. The only way to stop it is to reduce speed below 65 mph. On a few occasions I have managed?to hit 70 before bucking sets in. At 70 mph the tach reads 4000 rpm. Has anyone got any ideas about the problem and how to fix it? I should be able to turn 6500 rpm easily with this engine but I have no particular need to do faster than 70 in most cases. The VSS is Busaru and is set 4 mm clearance from stub axle flange?bolts.? All comments and and suggestions would be appreciated, |

Re: Power steering pump
I understand your concern but it will be fine. A lot of conversions are done this way--seems to work. However, you may have some noise from the pump if you run the HP hose thru the stock lines or using a "quiet" flex line from one of the vendors. I have done two conversions using these methods and always had some noise until I went back to the stock Subaru HP hose from the pump that runs forward along L side of engine. There are some good posts on THE SAMBA about these issues and this stock Subaru hose conversion routing. Re: evoscan works .. partially
hi folks, didn't realize this port of the old group actually existed! hence not posting in years.
the farthest i ever got in displaying the binary parameters through evoscan back then was to just have it dump the 2 separate byte values into a column in the log output, and then post-process the column in excel to extract individual values after the run (described on my website ). but, i also haven't updated evoscan in a long time, so i'm on a very old version ... at the time it would have required some real-time bit extraction of the values that evoscan wasn't able to do. i'm also one of the lucky ones in that my ROM id (7232) is one of the ones that the tables exist with the correct address for the binary values ... not sure how many of the ROMs have the right address for their binary params. |
