Re: Looking for a motor
As long as it's NA 2.5 to the same plug and play IIRC...there was a
discussion about it on the Samba. Skills added a lot to that discussion.

Re: Looking for a motor
I have tried with my VIN and the sites say there is nothing there for me.
Andrew, is there anything I should be aware of when swapping my heads, etc.
to an EJ253 short block?

What are you trying to convey?
I've used 253 short blocks on engines that started 251

That was a generic thing I pulled up on the website. ?At subarupartsdea.com, you put in your vin and it will show the appropriate parts.

Re: Looking for a motor
Hmm. The Subaru sites say that those part numbers are not appropriate for
my 2000 EJ25.
Anybody have the correct part number for that?
Thanks.

Re: ECU vs block
What water pump do you have?? The 2.5 has a single heater return fitting. The OE 2003 2.0 turbo has 3 fittings.

Re: Warren’s Conversion - Wiring Harness

Re: ECU vs block
I think you have a 2003 2.5 NA ECU,harness and intake manifold with a swapped 2.0 (JDM?) block if it is stamped EJ20 on the block. Both the 2.5 and 2.0 ECUs look to be 4 connector and interchangeable.

Re: Warren’s Conversion - Wiring Harness
I’ve used the Smallcar diagram and Tom Shiels pages. ?I’ve identified the Ignition On and Alternator Lamp wires, I think. ?However, what is the gray wire?

Re: ECU vs block
I did a lookup on your vin and your ecu number.
Here’s the info that came back…..

Re: ECU vs block
It's 22611-AJ020...
Does that last part imply it is indeed intended for an EJ20?
The original vehicle serial number is written on by hand; it is
JF1GD67583H503164 and then also written there is 2003
