I got a temperature guage that screaws on to the radiator, very handy.? Sounds like your guage is off.

What should my engine temp at idle be? A few weeks ago my van overheated while idling in the driveway and I noticed that the fans were not running. So I replaced my fan switch. It just seems that while at idle my fans don¡¯t kick on until the dash gauge is very high. So I hooked it up to my computer to see at what engine temp the fans are kicking on. I let it idle for about an hour yesterday without it overheating on the dash gauge, but the slow speed fan kicks on when the engine is usually at 219 and went as high as 225 one time. I think my manual says the engine should be 185 at idle. The fan fluctuated between 210 and 217 mostly throughout the hour of idling. The dash gauge was pretty far to the right at this time...
Driving on the freeway the van cruises with the dash needle just to the left side of the red light, almost strait up and down. I am using the Volkswagen temp sensor in the engine for the dash gauge. No resistor.
Does anyone else expirience the gauge that high before the fans kick on, and idle temps this high? Thank you

Re: 2001 legacy EJ25 no Injector pulse

Good to see you found the issue.?

?Hopefully starts after to have corrected this

Re: 2001 legacy EJ25 no Injector pulse

Hey Wayne.?
I think we are having a convo on samba as well...

I have confirmed voltage to the TPS and MAP sensors and Atmospheric sensor. This is supposed to be fed by the other missing wire (B136-15). They all seem to be getting the correct voltage from elsewhere.?

I have also confirmed that I accidentally pulled the sensor ground wire from b136 - 16. This wire goes to a little blue connector/junction that connects a bunch of other grounds. Im about 90% sure this is the issue. This ground serves a bunch of sensors through the 'shield and ground joint connector' (b83). I have to scrounge up a couple of pinned wires to remake the connection from b136-16 to b83-12.
?Ill keep everyone updated!

Info used through pages WI-90 through W-I97. WI-95 seemed to be the most useful.

Re: 2001 legacy EJ25 no Injector pulse

Looking at your diagnostic charts can you test the voltages by backprobing the pins at the ECU connectors. The TPS gets power and ground from 136 15 and 16. The voltage at 136 17 should be 0.2-1.0 with throttle fully closed, ign switch ON. The atmospheric sensor signal 136 29 should be 3.9-4.1 with ign switch ON. The pressure sensor 136 5 should be 2.4-4.8 with ign switch ON. The intake air temp sensor? 136 13 should be 2.3-2.5v with ign switch ON .

Sorry if these pins/values are not right as I am looking at my 01 Impreza sheets and I think they are the same as I looked over yours.

I think the ECU wants to see these signal voltages.

Re: 2001 legacy EJ25 no Injector pulse

I think AG42B should match. As well is there a 9 digit code?? When I matched mine 02 Impreza ECU the numbers were 22611 AF403 A18-000-D9Y? plus something like 1Y30 (which doesn't have to be an exact match)

Re: 2001 legacy EJ25 no Injector pulse

Its the ecu pinout for a 2001 legacy. I posted them so there is no confusion on which ecu pins which.

Re: 2001 legacy EJ25 no Injector pulse

I also multimeter tested the red/yellow wire at the tps and at the MAP sensor by probing the rd/yellow wire and connecting the other side to the common ground on the manifold. By connecting to this known ground, i got 5v. This would in theory verify that these sensor are missing their grounds from 136-16?
