Re: HELP!! Pulsing engine and no power under load

Scott, I had a similar issue with?my 2.5 L installation. When I? would hit 65 mph the engine would shut off ten seconds then later kickback in. It was like on, off, on, off, on, off. It would continue?this?as long as I remained above 65. Back off to 60 and it would smooth?right. Dennis Haynes said it sounded to him like the VSS was reading?an overspeed condition and the ecu was shutting the engine off for a few seconds to stay below the over?speed?limit. The scanner kept saying there was a fault?with VSS. After a diligent?search, it was found that one of the three wires to the Vss had chafed through, And the computer? was receiving a bad signal from the VSS. Patched the wire and do more problems,

All,
? ? ?After disconnecting the Blue signal wire from the VSS and I started the van, it idled correctly.? Then I hooked up the scanner and verified that the ecu was registering 0mph.? I connected the wires and waited for the ecu to report 158mph again which took about two minutes for it to get up there.? It was still idling correctly at 158mph. Then I had my son press the accelerator and it wanted to die and stall. Foot off the gas and it still wanted to idle erratically with wires connected.? When I released the wire connection the van idled correctly again.? We repeated the test a few times with the same results.?
I would say it is a Vehicle speed sensor issue.?

Thanks
