MLA Crossslide
Has anyone here don the MLA Crossslide for a South Bend 9A lathe ? I'm thiking of just buying the plans & wondering do the drawings include the dimensions for the Gibb too ? They also mention that if ya buy the casting they are " stress relieved where necessary " just what does that mean ? I have a bud that's gonna give me the cast iron .

Group,
Before I head down maybe not too deep of a rabbit
hole, has anyone seen detailed dimensions for the location of
the hole for the handwheel shaft in the various South Bend
aprons? ?I’ve got wobbly handwheel shafts on my 10k and 14.5”.
?I’ve measured the gears in the 10k and have a center-to-center
distance calculated for one pair, but I need the vertical
distance down from the rack or bed. ?That distance will be
dependent on how much wear there is on the saddle and ways on
any given lathe, but I should be able to nail down the numbers
by getting bed and rack measurements in headstock or tailstock
areas where there’s no wear.
Seems like many of the online accounts of those
that have bored and bushed the shaft holes have been off just
enough to have the gears bind up a bit when everything is
reassembled. ?I also plan to nail down the vertical dimension
for the lead screw axis as long as I’m in measurement mode!
?Please point me in the right direction if you know where to
find this out from someone’s previous travel down this path.?
Thanks,

FS: Lantern Tool Posts and Armstrong/Williams Tool Holders
Lot of two tool posts and five tools.
Smaller tool post measures 7/16" in width. Larger toolpost measures 1/2" in width.
The five tool holders are Armstrong, Walton, not marked, Armstrong and Williams. The small Armstrong appears to have a broken cutter. The carbide cutter is marked KT-J4071-32
I can message higher resolution pictures if you need to see more details.
The entire lot is $75, which includes flat rate priority mail to the lower 48 states. Message me an offer if my pricing seems to be out of range.
?

Re: FS: 3 Jaw Lathe Chuck 1-7/8 x 8tpi - early 10L or 13"
Lowered price... now $90.
?
A lathe chuck was included with my recent lathe purchase that doesn't actually fit my (1968) 10L.
5", 3 jaw with a 1-7/8 x 8tpi. From my limited research, it appears that this is an uncommon size used on early SB 10L and 13" lathes. The chuck is made by DE Whiton, and doesn't have a chuck key. The chuck key is a square socket (see picture). It needs a good cleaning, but nothing appears broken.
The price includes flat rate priority shipping to the lower 48.
Message me for higher resolution pictures. If my price seems out of range, feel free to email offers. - Stan
?
(ps: the 4 jaw chuck from my previous email is sold)
