Thanks for sharing the pictures with us. Looks like a nice old SB, and yes
I'm sure it could use a thorough cleaning. Let us know what brand/color of
paint you end up using.
All the speeds provided by the pulley combinations and the back-gears ought
to come in handy. What's the bed length on your SB?
I'm looking for a steady rest also, but I think I might try making a steady
and a follower out of aluminum since its easy to machine and I don't have a
mill. Has anybody made steady rest for their 9" SB?
I just got My SB model A back together enough to try out the belt from
McMaster-Carr. The belt seemed real flimsy, but I can stall the motor before
anything slips, and for around $13.00 it can't be beat.
