I only encounter problems using FFDL only about once every 18-20 uses.
The problem is mostly downloads getting stuck partway due to, I suspect, the Cloudflare DDoS checks. In these cases I simply restart FFDL and the download proceeds normally.
I also, mainly download individual chapters for stories I follow. Downloading entire stories only happens for me when I find a new story I want to keep.
The problem of not downloading every chapter has not occurred in my set-up since the last update to FFDL.

Did you guys?set your delay to 3?
Here's how to do it if the one I posted doesn't have that done.
Open ff DL. Alt for menu bar, then down once to
configuration. Enter on that, shift tab 4 times, set that first spin option to
3. Tab to save, and there you are.

I really hate this.... For the last hours I've tried 5 different approaches since suddenly this morning FFDL was not able to get even a single chapter. Notjing I did worked, the program was stuck on the "please wait 5 sec" page. But now suddenly the version without any changes is working again on my system... So I just wasted something like 5 hours for a hickup of cloud flare.... Sometimes I hate programming. I hate programming I hate programming I hate programming I hate programming It works I love programming I'll check the behaviour again tomorrow, this day was just a waste... Am 2. I get it... really. I've
spent the last couple of months trying to get the Linux version
working right on one of my systems -- of course it's the one I use
the most. Some sort of qt5 problem. Rolled back one version and
it's fine. Have only occasionally had the problems discussed,
though, which I figured was Cloudfare's fault.
I'm here to help as before.

Finally some good news... seems like I found the reason for the
missing chapters at least the first one.
Now I need to find the root cause for the stopping download in
some cases... but not today

Qt is an app development
system which is commonly used to create UI elements and such.
Depending on what distro you're using, if you need it, it will be
installed with whatever app from the distro's repos.
If necessary, it can be installed alone if you have need -- as in
the case of running ffdl. Feel free to contact me off-list and we
can work it out.

Raymond, My sympathies. I used to work on the Space Shuttle. There was one program that only worked in the morning. Turned out someone stored the time in the wrong variable so by afternoon the value was too large and out of bounds.

Speaking personally?
If I were in your hard working position, and had a presence on twitter,
I would visit the fictionpress twitter feed, the one I believe is associated with fanfiction.net
And make my frustration known.
I would share that you have users in Linux, both command line and graphical, that you have users in places where they need older editions of windows, but that all of your users are humans who should not need to confirm this in the middle of a download using a tool like cloudflare.
I would add that the partial function of the m.fanfiction.net page, for some is a problem as well.
After sharing this, I would ask for a solution, and see if they pay attention.Truth be told you contribute to their revenue, in theory, by bringing folks to the site.
