My deepest sympathies, Steve. I feel your pain as I lost my wife of 24 years this past spring -- the last 10 of which were spent fighting a rare chronic lung disorder.

I'll make the same offer that Karou did: if you need to talk or whatever, I'm here. Those of us who have been through this need to stick together because we're the only ones who truly know the pain.

I never know what to say. "Sorry for your loss" seems so damned trite.

I am truly saddened by this, and offer long distance hugs.

I am so sorry for your loss.? As someone who has lost 2 wives, The first to a drunk driver,? and the second to cancer I can understand your loss.? My second wife was diagnosed with carcinoid syndrome and given six months to live.? She lived for five years after that although the last two were not pretty.

The specific condition is known as Posterior Cortical Atrophy, and a reasonable shorthand definition is "Alzheimer's that starts by affecting the visual cortex." In the three years since her diagnosis, she had lost much of her mental and physical capabilities. Although she could still converse, she had trouble finding the correct words, and physically, she was effectively?blind (her?eyes were still good, but her?brain couldn't interpret the incoming data), and could no longer take care of herself.
?
Last night, she got part of her dinner caught in her throat. I tried the Heimlich maneuver without success and called 911. We have a fire station a few blocks away, so the EMTs were there almost immediately. They were also unsuccessful with unblocking her airway.
?
Marion suffered a cardiac arrest on the way to the hospital, but they were able to restart her heart and stabilize her once she was in the ER. Around 1 am, they called me to come to the hospital because her blood pressure had dropped significantly, and they felt she didn't have long. Her heart stopped again just before 3 am, and she did not respond to CPR.

Re: Sad news

My oldest brother passed suddenly. We had recently lost the next oldest brother unexpectedly also and were all kind of shellshocked. While getting ready for the memorial our remaining brother let out a bellow, followed by a shriek and a yell of my oldest brothers name. The whole house heard him and his wife went to check if he was okay. He came barreling out of the bathroom where he'd been showering and announced to the family that there is definitely an afterlife and that Billy is there and hasn't changed a bit. How did he know this? Because he heard Billy laughing after the lights went out followed by the hot water going off in his shower. This was a prank Billy pulled on him whenever he got a chance. Always the lights and the hot water off because then he got to watch his little brother wander in the dark to get the lights and hot water back on. Our loved ones never leave, they just change form.?

Re: Sad news

My prayers are with you. She is not really gone, you just can't see her.?

When I was 7 years old my Grandmothers health went down due to cancer. My Mother had her bed put in the same room with hers to make it easier to take care of her. After my Grandmother died, my mother had? a very hard time coping.?

My mother went to bed one night and something told her to open her eyes, she saw my grandmother over in her bed. My grams got up and walked over to my mother patted her on the leg and said Betty it will be alright. My Mother knew she would be.

I hope this helps.

Re: Sad news

?Steven, I am so very sorry for the loss of your beloved. Words can not express the loss you are feeling. The only thing I or any of us can say is we are terribly sorry, and I know she’s not in pain any longer. Personally I have researched Paranormal Activity for almost 20 years. I hear the same things after a loved one passes. Don’t feel as she’s gone, still talk to her. It sounds crazy I know, and I don’t want to cause you pain. However I have heard over and over that our loved ones will give you signs that they are with you and they are alright. When my grandma passed I was in a terrible state. I kept finding dimes everywhere. Also I kept smelling a certain perfume. After a little time passed where I could think, I realized the dimes my nanny collected silver dimes and wheat pennies. And the smell, she wore (spelling)?Chennel #5. I have heard her audibly, and have had dreams that were so real. I know your heart is raw, but she loves you from here to eternity and back. You will be with her again and she will know everything you are going through. May the gods bless you and your family in the coming days. ???

sending the most comforting virtual hug imaginable.
my sympathies for what must be layers of emotional conflict on every level.
Still, bringing to mind and heart memories of happy moments you both shared in the last quarter may ease the pain.
will be thinking of you,
