ot: creating a playlist as a gift?
Hi techno wonders.
Have a heart brother turning 40, and they are only *cough* partakers of
non-standard music media.
No cd player, or turntable, only playlists.
They use Android.
My question is this.
Anyone know of a way to generate a music playlist, happy to buy the files,
that does not involve either YouTube, or spotify, and can be shared with an
android user?
Surely some open source method exists?

WIn 11, right? Ignore it.
That just means that it's not in Mickeysoft's database. Oh, and
read the instructions on the page you downloaded it from. The file
is a stand-alone executable, not an installer. Create a folder
named "ffdl" somewhere on your system and extract the zip file to
that folder. Run the file "ffdl-beta-2.0.0-beta2.exe" from that
folder. Make certain that you have a recent version of Calibre
installed first. If Windows gives any kind of security warning,
tell it to "Allow" or "Ignore" or whatever it wants. It is
completely safe. I have personally tested it on Win 7, 10, and 11
and other than some trouble with FFN's summary formatting that's
occasionally confusing Calibre (which Rai is addressing), it works
great.

The new beta is out!!! Yay!!! So happy it's being worked on!!
I tried it and it worked! Epub did not work though for me I'll be curious
if others can. HTML and PDF loaded well. And for those who like double spaces
between paragraphs and quotes, you can load the html version, then insert space,
select all, copy, then paste in wherever you read.

prevent conversion that Rai is working on. The html file is always
great, though. If you do try beta2, be sure to update Rai with
your experiences with it.

Hi folks, Sharing this below, along with the advice I posted. One thing about ff.net being so old is that many author's with beloved works, likely have forgotten they even have stuff there. Or that people still read that stuff. If I had access to the site, <I do not> and I am guessing private communication still works? I would reach out to every writer on your favorites and follow lists, encouraging them to move their stuff, while sharing just why you love their stories. Might solve some silent mysteries, even result in some writers returning to unfinished gems. @ Derek,
The beta has a file destination hard wired.
You have to copy and paste the web address into the program.
Once downloaded, you have to go in and rename the three downloaded files to name$ dot html, name$ dot pdf and name$ dot epub.

The beta works, but requires a lot of fiddling-about to actually use.
Apparently, there is a complete re-write due at some point. It may be better to wait for that.
