I read the nerve stimulation theory, which goes
somewhat like so: Paralysis comes about when the
nerves aren't connected anymore, or the connections
are dulled. The Cruciatus Curse stimulates the nerves,
and they reconnect.
Now, I don't know exactly how plausible that sounds,
but I agree with Bob, the Crucio is too wide-spread
for this. There are potions that work on the nerves.

such light. The

The Cruciatus spell can be used for good. Some
have suggested it was
originally a medical spell to wake patients up
from comas.
Also, wouldn't casting it repeatedly on someone
build up a resistance
to pain?
Sorry, I just don't buy it. There are nerve pressure
points which
medical personal may use to see if a person is truly
unconscious or
not, but cruciatus? Nope. That spell is too
generalized and causes too
much pain.
I look at it this way. There are some spells which
were deliberately
designed to hurt people, and others which have been
corrupted over the
centuries into that catagory. Most of the spells
aren't dark. Its the
intent of the caster to make them so. Should someone
actually come up
with a good reason as to why cruciatus can be used
for good I'm
willing to listen. But I don't believe there is a
good reason for it.
