Lone Mountain Archaeological Services, Inc. has several openings for
archaeological technicians and supervisory archaeologists/field directors with experience in southwestern Colorado and southeastern Utah. The successful candidates will be self-motivated, flexible, possess exceptional field and office skills, and be dedicated to the maintenance of high professional standards. Supervisory archaeologists/field directors should be permitted in the BLM Districts in these areas or will have the required experience to become permitted immediately. Applicants with experience in other areas of Colorado and Utah are encouraged to apply. Required qualifications are: B.A. or M.A. in archaeology / anthropology, with an understanding of method and theory. Minimum of two years experience in cultural resource management (CRM), with demonstrated survey skills. Demonstrated supervisory experience. Ability to conduct basic cultural materials identification and in-field lithic analysis. Established field skills, including (but not limited to) experience with compass, SLR cameras, transit, GPS. Competence in reading topographic, aerial, and project maps. Ability to draw accurate site maps and complete site forms. Ability to write quickly, clearly and concisely, and to follow stylistic guidelines. Willingness to take direction from managers. Ability and willingness to serve as in-field client contact. Ability and willingness to teach and mentor crew members. Ability to walk several miles per day under adverse conditions. Short project in SW Oregon

Historical Research Associates (HRA) is trying to find up to 3 crew people for
a 4 day project in Tri City, Oregon, a small town along I-5 south of Roseburg. The project includes excavation of up to 9 50x50 cm test pits in the ROW of a natural gas pipeline. Work will begin as soon as an Oregon excavation permit is secured, which is expected on 9/2 or 9/3. Crew members are expected to have a good base of experience in Northwest archaeology and a willingness to work on Labor Day, if necessary. The Department of Archaeology at Boston University announces it is reopening the search for a faculty post at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in remote sensing and archaeology, effective September 1, 2000. The ideal candidate will hold a Ph.D. in archaeology and have both research and instructional background in remote sensing (geophysical prospecting and satellite imagery) and familiarity with Geographic Information Systems. The geographic area of interest is open. The successful candidate will have an active research program, a strong commitment to teaching, and be capable of teaching both at the undergraduate and graduate level. Courses for which the candidate will be responsible include Remote Sensing and Archaeology, Regional Archaeology and GIS, Quantitative Methods in Archaeology, Introduction to Archaeology, Great Discoveries in Archaeology, as well as courses in the geographic area of interest.
