Integrated Environmental Solutions, LLC (IES) is seeking to immediately hire multiple archeological field technicians to assist with projects within Arkansas, ?Oklahoma, and Texas.?IES is in the process of surveying approximately 4,000 acres for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Little Rock District and will be starting survey for a major fiber optic line project in the coming weeks. We also have ongoing Phase III excavation at a prehistoric habitation site and cemetery. We have sufficient work underway and planned to keep applicants busy continuously for the next 6 to 8 months, which could be extended or lead to permanent positions.?Applicants with Phase III experience will be given priority ranking to assist with the Phase III project. ?

Compensation

  • Initial pay will be $19.50 to $22/hr based on experience.

Qualifications:

About the Role:
The position of Training and Compliance Manager of On-Country Academy has the management of the training, compliance and course development as their core focus. The role reports to the Head of On-Country Academy and will be a leadership role for the small existing team and assist the Head in the growth of the team.

Field Archaeologist - EDR is seeking experienced, team-oriented?Field Archaeologists?with demonstrated expertise to provide support to the EDR Cultural Resources practice area by assisting with archaeological fieldwork, laboratory analysis and/or office work. This role would be an hourly position (March through December, weather dependent) based in the Northeastern United States.

Field Archaeologists provide support for field investigations, and in some instances, associated laboratory and/or office work. Schedule and Compensation

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8-hour days (40 hours weekly, off Saturday and Sunday; our typical schedule may need to be adjusted to meet specific project demands, although that is unusual).

The educational equivalent to a master’s degree from an accredited college or university in archeology, anthropology, or closely related field.? Working knowledge of Arkansas archeology and history, Section 106 law, NAGPRA, the Arkansas burial law, and other pertinent state and federal regulations regarding historic properties. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook desired. Experience using GPS preferred. Ability to adapt to new technology.? Effective oral and written communication skills, including experience in report writing.? Valid driver’s license. Physical ability to withstand archeological fieldwork in year-around weather conditions. Ability to traverse rugged terrain, including, but not limited to, steep hills, creeks and streams, swamps, brush and timber covered property, fences, etc. Statewide travel including overnight travel as necessary.

The following professional qualifications standards of the Secretary of the Interior as published in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), 36 CFR Part 61, must also be met:

At least one year of full-time professional experience or equivalent specialized training in archeological research, administration or management;

At least four months of supervised field and analytic experience in general North American archeology; and

Demonstrated ability to carry research to completion.

A professional in prehistoric archeology shall have at least one year of full-time professional experience at a supervisory level in the study of archeological resources of the prehistoric period.? A professional in historic archeology shall have at least one year of full-time professional experience at a supervisory level in the study of archeological resources of the historic period.

We are looking for candidates local to?New Mexico (will consider Arizona, southern Utah or southern Colorado). These positions will be on an on-call basis with duration and schedule of assignments dependent on individual project needs.?

Field Crew Member position duties will include:?

  • Hiking (often in difficult terrain with challenging vegetation and obstacles) and/or excavation (often in hot and dry conditions with steady winds and blowing dust)
  • Participation in archaeological survey and/or excavation including use of total station and GPS equipment, excavation of test units, and monitoring of backhoe excavations.

Under the direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist, Office of Environmental Management, the incumbent as a participating interdisciplinary team member is responsible for archaeology studies and project effects analysis for transportation projects pursuant to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and other applicable state and federal regulations. The incumbent identifies and evaluates archaeological resources as part of the transportation project development process; prepares written analyses of such resources as an aid in the development of modal and design alternatives for transportation projects; identifies and analyzes impacts of transportation projects on historical values and their interrelationships to other cultural resources; develops and recommends mitigation measures to avoid or minimize identified impacts upon these resources.

Working Conditions

Position located in Redding, Shasta?County.?

Duties will require work to be conducted in both office and field environments during normal office hours. The duties will on occasion require work meetings offsite in the offices of other agencies or consultants and public meetings held during the evening hours. At the district office or other work locations, employee will normally work in a climate-controlled environment and under artificial light.

This position may be eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and based on Caltrans’s evolving telework policy. Caltrans supports telework, recognizing that in-person attendance may be required based on operational needs. Employees are expected to be able to report to their worksites with minimum notification if an urgent need arises. The selected candidate will be required to commute to the headquartered location as needed to meet operational needs. Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated headquartered location, primary residence, and may be subject to CalHR regulations or applicable bargaining unit contract provisions.   • Completing initial project review for requests from clients and project managers.
  • Performing pedestrian walkover survey, controlled surface survey, and hand excavation (shovel testing), oftentimes solo.

  • During Phase I survey, determining types of appropriate survey coverage within the project area.

Education Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a related science

  • Project-specific certifications and licensure may be required, if applicable.

Experience Requirements

Salary range is $21 to $25 per hour, dependent upon experience. Given the contract for this project is local to GSRC’s main office in the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Area, no per diem or lodging is included. Transportation will be provided from the office to the work site. This travel time will be paid.

Duties

  • Perform archaeological survey (pedestrian and shovel testing) under the direction of project Crew Leaders and Field Director.

Scientific Consultant Services, Inc. (SCS), is a locally owned, Hawaii-based cultural resource management company accepting applications for the position of field archaeologist on the island of Oahu. SCS is primarily seeking to hire on-island personnel, although other Hawaii resident and non-Hawaii resident applicants will be considered. This is a full-time position with 401k, medical, dental, and vision benefits provided following a satisfactory performance review of the initial 90-day probationary period. Compensation & Perks:
