supervisory and crew positions for upcoming projects in southern Arizona. Projects may involve Class III surveys, monitoring, eligibility testing, and data recovery. Salaries are competitive and some projects will involve per diem. Some work may start as soon as August 1, 2000. Crew members will be involved in pedestrian surveys, site recording, and excavation. As required, crew may also be employed in laboratory analysis. Under the supervision of the Cultural Resource Manager, supervisory personnel will be responsible for field crews, completion of field survey, excavation, and monitoring projects, site file reviews, laboratory analysis, and report preparation (as needed). Southwestern experience is preferred for all positions, and Arizona experience is necessary for supervisory positions. Charleston, SC data recovery - 1 or 2 openings

We have one or two openings still to be filled on a short-term data
recovery project north of Charleston, SC. The site is a 19th century plantation with the work focused on the main house area. The project begins Monday, July 10 and is expected to be completed Friday, July 28. Work hours are Monday-Thursday 7:30-4:30 (half-hour lunch), Friday 7:30-12:30. There may be 1-2 weeks of additional work beyond that, with information available within the first or second week of this project. The pay is $9/hr, plus $20/day per diem. We are providing motel housing (double occupancy). MS/MA degree in history, architecture, or closely related field, with specialization in historic preservation. At least 5 years of post-graduate work experience in cultural resources management and historic preservation. DESIRABLE IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: Demonstrated knowledge of cultural resource management and historic preservation law. Experience working with CRM issues on military installations. Experience with established methods and techniques of historical research associated with cultural resource management and historic preservation, specifically as it relates to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), the Archaeological Resources Protection Act (ARPA), the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA), the American Indian Religious Freedom Act, Executive Order 13007, and the Department of Defense Instruction 4715.3.
