Position Overview:
SummitWest seeks motivated Archaeologists to support projects across California. This is a dynamic role split between fieldwork and office tasks. You'll conduct archaeological surveys, monitoring, excavations, and desktop reviews. Primary Responsibilities: - Perform archaeological field surveys, excavations, monitoring, and testing.
- Document sites, analyze artifacts, and prepare records using GPS/tablets.
- Draft technical reports and conduct background research.
- Communicate with construction personnel and team members.
- Travel frequently for field assignments, sometimes involving camping.
- Maintain accurate field notes and project documentation.
Qualifications: - BA/BS in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field.
- 2+ years of archaeological field experience in California.
- Completion of archaeology field school preferred.
- Familiarity with California-specific CRM practices.
- Proficient with Survey123, Collector/Field Maps, GPS tools.
- Ability to perform physically demanding fieldwork.
- Must reside in California and possess a valid driver’s license.
Working Conditions: - Fieldwork in rugged, remote environments with extreme weather.
- Hiking up to 10+ miles/day and carrying up to 25 lbs.
- Overnight travel and occasional camping required.
