Urgent Need New Cumberland PA

Lou Lou is a 3 year old F5 spayed female in New Cumberland PA.?
? Lou Lou does not get along with any other cats. She is currently moving out of her third home in her short life because of this issue.?
? ? ?She recently had an episode of redirected aggression when she spied a neighborhood cat on the porch of her home. Because she could not get at the other cat, she attacked her owners who were trying to calm her. One of them required medical treatment after the attack. The owners no longer trust her to be around their small children and want her moved quickly.?

We are looking for a quiet home with no other cats and limited views of other animals outdoors. No small children in the home and experience with redirected aggression is a plus. We have no information about her interactions with dogs. For this reason we will consider households with dogs on a case by case basis.?

Due to how quickly she needs to be moved we are offering her as foster with intent to adopt. Her adoption fee will be $200?when she is adopted. No shipping is being offered at this time because it will not be able to be arranged quickly enough.?

If your home sounds like a good fit for Lou Lou and you are able to pick her up in the next few days, please email us at
With information on your home and family and why it's right for Lou Lou.?

ADOPT/FOSTER TO ADOPT: SPECIAL NEEDS - LUNA - SHILLINGTON, PA

Nala is a loving and friendly Savannah female, a delight to her current foster home who discovered her in a local shelter that is not hybrid friendly. Some questioning confirmed that this girl is from AAASavannahs (Paul Beeson), a defunct cattery. She is currently located in Shillington, PA.?

Unfortunately, veterinary examination of Nala detected a heart murmur, and a consultation with a veterinary cardiologist has diagnosed Nala with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM), the most common of feline heart diseases. Medication has stabilized her condition, she is easy to medicated, but we cannot know how much this will affect Nala's life expectancy. A new home should do some research into this disease to know what this entails.

Nala loves people but is not too interested in other cats. She would do great as an only cat, but should really only live with one or two other cats that are not too interactive as she doesn't wish to be close friends with other cats. We do not know how she is with dogs or children but her friendliness to adults probably means she would be a good fit with at least children older than toddlers.

Nala is not available for shipping, the foster home would prefer that she not have to travel too many hours from their home as they worry about the stress of the journey with her heart condition.

If you feel that you could offer Nala a great home, please email info@... with your location and a description of your household and how it would suit Nala.?

UPDATE: SKIPPY IS ADOPTED - SAVANNAH/JUNGLEBOB MIX - BERKELEY, CA

FORTUNATELY A GREAT HOME OFFERED AND SKIPPY IS NOW IN HIS FOREVER HOME!!

Skippy is a 2.5 year old neutered male said to have a Savannah and a Junglebob parent. The breeder is not known to us nor are they searchable on the internet so we have not been able to verify the parentage. There were of course no papers. Skippy does have a bobtail but no polydactyl paws. He is located in Berkeley, CA.

Skippy is a friendly cat that got along just fine with the household dog and older cat, then about 7 months ago a kitten was introduced. That was thought to be fine but two months ago Skippy started peeing in the house once a day and the owners think it is jealousy of the kitten or a "wild cat thing". They feel that they have tried all they can (they did have him checked out by the vet) and that he needs a new home. Hence we cannot pinpoint the source of Skippy's behavior.

In terms of a new home, given that Skippy lived fine for years with a dog and cat, we feel a home with other pets would be fine with the appropriate slow and thoughtful introduction. Care should be taken to avoid stress and work on any issues that arise. We cannot know what the cause of Skippy's inappropriate urination issue is, so the new home would have to be willing to work on this if it occurs.

Skippy lives with an older child hence probably any child over 8 years of age will be fine. Skippy is known to play rough with the cat and dog hence a very young child may not be a good idea for him. He does not like to be picked up and prefers to choose when he is petted.

If you feel that your home would be perfect for Skippy, please email info@... with your location and a description of your home and why it would be great for Skippy. Skippy's adoption fee will be $200. He is not available for shipping at this time.

AVAILABLE - F5 SNOW FEMALE - LOUISVILLE, KY

Isabella is a 4 year old spayed snow Savannah female from F1Hybrids, who will not be taking her back. Isabella is up to date on her FVRCP vaccine but not Rabies.

Her owner contacted us last year to surrender a pair of Savannahs, because the male Savannah was spraying in response to moving into a home with another cat. It seems that she did rehome the male by himself though, and now wishes to surrender Isabella. Although the situation improved, the two female cats do not get along and one of the cats is still marking in the basement occasionally. We have no feedback on what has been tried to resolve the issue unfortunately.

Isabella is reported to be social and like to be around people but not be picked up. She is said to love water, and brushing teeth with her human, and gets along well with dogs. She has not been around children so we would not recommend with young children, but older children that know appropriate play with a cat should be fine. We feel that she was happy living with one other cat (the Savannah male) so with appropriate introductions she should be able to live with one other cat, preferably a neutered male. If there is another cat then the personality of that cat will be important to the possible outcome.

This is one of our rare cases where shipping will be available to the right home, although of course preference to a local home will be made. The owner feels that she would be prepared to arrange shipping (at the adopter's expense) if that would find her the right home.

*ADOPTED* F2 Bonded Pair in New York Available for adoption to a legal state

ADOPTED
Hendrix and Smalls are officially in their new home and doing great!
A big thank you to all of the wonderful homes that applied for them. It was a very difficult decision. Please keep watching for the next Savannah Cat in need!

ADOPTED - F2 MALE - NAVARRE, FL

THANK YOU TO ALL THE GREAT HOMES THAT OFFERED, IT WAS VERY VERY HARD FOR OUR TEAM TO MAKE A DECISION AND WE FEEL SAD THAT WE HAD TO SAY NO TO SO MANY SUITABLE HOMES. ON THE OTHER HAND, LEOPOLD HAS GONE TO A WONDERFUL HOME AND IS SETTLING IN FAST IT SEEMS!

Leopold is a handsome energetic 5 year old F2 neutered Savannah male, currently still in the surrendering owner's home in Navarre, FL.

Leopold is being surrendered mainly for the issue developing between him and the other resident cat, an F6 female Savannah. It seems that Leopold plays too rough for her, and this becomes worse when he is not getting enough exercise through other play, he turns to wrestling and does not let up. The other cat now runs at the sight of him. Additionally, recently he scratched their young child, seemingly without cause (although this has never happened before in the previous years). They feel he would do better in a home without children, or with older children (>8 years old). Recently (February 2017), he has had surgery to remove what was thought to be an obstruction, although when operated on the lump had moved to the colon and appeared to be a clump of fur. Leopold is also known to pee outside the box when stressed by any change. He does require a large tote box as litterbox as he is a larger cat. We had communicated with the owner previously (last year) about litterbox issues, but were able to resolve them with some suggestions about litter and box size and location.

When Leopold was 6 months old, he broke a rear leg that was pinned to heal. While this was successful, it has resulted in signs of early arthritis in that leg. He is currently healthy and up to date on vaccinations, and recently had his teeth cleaned. Generally he is reported to be friendly and playful with his family, but of course takes some time to warm up to strangers.

Leopold would do great in a home prepared to give him lots of activity and play, an outdoor enclosure would likely be perfect for his needs but is not required. Leopold has not lived with dogs, but with a thoughtful introduction I think it could work. If there is another cat (s) then they would need to be of a personality able to withstand rough play as this is a stated issue with Leopold. We would be concerned about older domestic cats etc in this case.?

The new home would need to pickup from Navarre, FL. No shipping is available at this time. If you think your home is suitable for Leopold, please email us at info@... with your location and a description of your household to introduce yourself. His adoption fee will be $200.

AVAILABLE - TITUS - DENVER, CO

Titus is a 3 year old Savannah male located in Denver, CO. He was abandoned at a shelter with a note giving some basic information. He is intact so will be neutered before release to us.

The note said that he was being surrendered for litterbox avoidance. Of course, we think a major factor in this is that Titus is three years old and not neutered. So we do expect this behavior to resolve but would expect a new home to be prepared to work with this issue for the coming weeks as the male hormones dissipate from his system (decreasing his need to mark his territory). He is reported to be F2 or F3 but from the one picture we have of him it is likely that he is F3. Titus is reported to be friendly with his owners and their children (7-12 years old) but takes a while to warm to strangers and other cats and dogs. He has not reacted well to the shelter environment but we often see that with a high energy breed such as the Savannah, they don't do well in small cages.

We would need a potential home to be able to get to the shelter in Denver, CO. Please don't ask us to ship him, we are not there to do so. We think that a home with children 7 or older should be fine, and a home with a small number of cats and dogs could work as long as the home realizes that it will require a patient and slow introduction.

If you think that your home would be great for Titus, please email us at info@... with a description of your household, and some information on how you would anticipate dealing with his introduction. Please also include your location and willingness and ability to get to Denver CO in a timely fashion. Note that Savannahs are not allowed in Denver itself.

F2 Bonded Pair in New York Available for adoption to a legal state

F2 Bonded Pair in New York Available for adoption to a legal state

?Hendrix and Smalls are 8 year old, F2 boys from Jewels of The Nile Savannahs (also in NY). They currently reside in Mahopac, NY. They are being rehomed due to a change in the circumstances of their owner’s life and through no fault of their own. Hendrix and Smalls need a home with room for them to run and play. They love to play with all kinds of toys and are known to be typical rough housing F2 boys with each other. They have always had access to an outdoor enclosure and their new home will need to be able to provide them one as well. They play well together and are said to peacefully coexist with other cats. We are told they basically ignore other resident cats. We are willing to consider a home with other cats based on the temperament of the cats and the owner’s previous experience introducing adult cats to each other.

? These boys have very few behavioral problems as long as they are given the ability to expend their energy through play, both with their people and with each other. Smalls is said to have an intermittent issue with urinating on tile flooring. His current owner has devised a litter box with tile pieces and puppy pads that has curbed this problem. They are not accustomed to small children or the antics of small children, only homes with children 8+ will be considered. They have been raw fed their entire lives; their new home will need to be familiar with proper raw feeding methods. They have been together since infancy and we will not be separating them. To further insure this, their adoption fee has been set at $200 for the pair. We will not be shipping them at this time. You must be willing to drive to pick them up to bring them home. Their current owner says that they are experienced car riders and will do well even on an extended car ride. If you feel your home is a perfect fit for these two boys, please first check the laws in your state here:??and then email us at?info@...?with information about your home and experience.

"Nika's Story"

Nika was taken by her original owner to the vet and her owner abandoned her there and never picked her up. She had been identified by this owner as a spayed female F4 savannah. ?A worker at the hospital felt badly for her and took her home but now that family is having problems living with her since they had a new baby.

Nika is not happy. ?Besides the new baby, there is another cat in the house and Nika doesn’t always use the litter box. If laundry or other items are left on the floor she will urinate on them. She will also defecate on the floor for no apparent reason. ?She tries to be good for long periods of time, but then something upsets her and she starts going outside the litter box again. To investigate the reason for her inappropriate urination her owners took her to the vet to find out that she had urinary crystals and kidney stones. These stones can be very painful and are often the reason a cat will stop using the litterbox. But now that the habit has started, it has become behavioural as well as health related. She has been on medication for the stones plus she will need to remain on a veterinary diet (science Diet C/D) ?for the rest of her life to prevent reoccurrence of them. Nika will also scratch on the door moldings when she is kept out of a room or when she is stressed.

Her current owners say that she is as sweet as they come. She is gentle with their new baby and friendly to the whole family. She likes to play in water as you can see in the pics. ?She is quiet and sometimes likes to sit in your lap. She also will follow you around the house. She does not bite and is playful and a joy, and except for the above problems they would keep her.

Nika is going to be 10 years old this year and will come with all of her veterinary records. She is located in Tomball Texas. Savannahs are banned in many counties in Texas. If you live in this state please check this link to see if they are banned. If you are in an county that allows ownership you will be responsible for acquiring a permit to own Nika before she can move to your home. www.hybridlaw.com/texas

The ideal home for Nika would be one that doesn’t have a lot of activity going on. A home with roommates that are coming and going, or large noisy parties, or people that are out of town a lot would not be an ideal home. Young children running around and playing would not be a good fit with Nika. If there is another cat it should be a submissive, mellow natured cat and Nika would need her own litterbox. Nika gets along well with the current cat and they play together but perhaps there is some dominance issue going on that is causing her to defecate and urinate outside the box at times. ?If there are children-- an older, only child would be a perfect fit. Nika has been exposed to a dog (Chihuahua) but the dog just stressed her out and she wasn’t happy at all. Nika ran and the dog chased. It is possible this is also one of the reasons for her acting out? ?Perhaps if you have an old mellow dog that was quiet and left her alone it would be ok. And the ideal owner is one that is prepared to deal with a cat that may be prone to UTI’s and willing to keep her on a specialized diet and work on her litterbox issues and take her for all of her good qualities and have the patience and love to work on her shortcomings.

Nika’s adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in her please contact us at info@... and tell us about your home and location and why you would be a good place for Nika to retire and live out her life.?

EDITED ***F5 MALE AVAILABLE IN CENTRAL NC***

Meet Aslan Jr!?
He's friendly, good with kids, and good with dogs! BUT he has Pika-- which is an obsession with eating certain non-food items.?

He came into rescue because his owner couldn't afford yet another surgery to remove a bowel obstruction. While he's great with little kids, he eats all their tiny toys. He has eaten hairties, plastic miniatures and pieces of foam. His next owner needs to understand that tiny plastic, rubber or foam pieces (of anything) need to be kept up. We think this is partially due to boredom, so lots of interactive play and food puzzles will help.

At the vet, they also found intestinal scarring-- likely damage from eating all these things. It will need rechecked in a few months, as its possible it will heal itself, but should be monitored.

He LOVES to talk to you, about everything. He wants to be with his people and commands attention. At only 3 years old, he's a very active, very inquisitive dude.

He is front-paw declawed, and is slightly cross-eyed, which adds to his charm.

Prior to being fostered, he had never met another cat, so he is not thrilled about them. Another easy-going cat in the household MAY be considered. We really prefer to find him a doggie friend to wrestle with, as he loved to wrestle his family's boxer. Older kids are OK as long as they are beyond the tiny toys stage (8+)-- and hair ties are not left out for him to find!

If you think you might be the right home for Aslan Jr, email your location and a description of your home to info@....

ADOPTED: FEMALE SAVANNAH - ANAHEIM, CA

THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT OFFERS, BOOBOO IS IN HER NEW HOME NOW!

BooBoo is a ~2 year old spayed female Savannah (we estimate ~F4) abandoned by a family in Simi Valley, CA recently, she is currently being fostered in Anaheim.

Because she was not surrendered by her owner our information about BooBoo is limited to what little the neighbor of the family knew and what the foster has observed in the days since she's had BooBoo. Boo apparently lived with? a family with a number of small children, she also lived with two kittens (not related but younger than her). In her foster home, she's been kept in a room by herself of course but has been amazingly gentle and friendly from the start. The morning after she arrived, she climbed into the foster's lap. She went to the vet and was completely sweet and easily examined. She has had her vaccinations updated and her FIV/FeLV test is pending. She is now microchipped and will be registered to the new owner (with SV Rescue to remain alternate contact for life). She shows no indications of litterbox issues nor any behavioral issues.

We feel that BooBoo now deserves a lot of love and being treasured. She did not deserve being abandoned and deserves to be spoiled rotten by someone. If you think that someone is you, please email info@... and tell us about your household and why BooBoo would be a great fit for your home. Her adoption fee is $200.

STILL AVAILABLE - F2 FEMALE - RAMONA, CA

Manyara is a spayed 11year old F2 Savannah female, that has been kept
almost all her life as a "cattery cat" where this meant being outside in
a caged enclosure. Recent weeks have meant a more indoor lifestyle and
Manyara is reported to have adapted easily and is also reported to be
more approachable and pettable.

Manyara was kept as a breeding female in an outdoor enclosure from
kittenhood, with access to an indoor room. As such, Manyara has never
lived as an indoor housepet. We believe that with time she will happily
adapt to a cushy pet lifestyle, but it requires understanding and
patience for her to come to enjoy being a pet.

Manyara's owner (Callmac Cattery) died and she then lived with the son
and his wife in similar conditions. Both the original owner and the son
were close to Manyara and she was affectionate with him but she did not
bond at all with his wife. The son has now passed and the wife feels
that Manyara would do better in a home that understands her needs and
will work on a bond.

Manyara was used to living among other cats and was very friendly and
happy that way, so we feel that with an appropriate patient introduction
she would be fine in a home with other cats. She has met dogs but
avoided contact, but has not interacted with children. She is not up to
date with vaccinations.

Although originally the owner reported that Manyara was aloof with her,
in the past weeks she brought Manyara into the cattery building and has
found that she adapted nicely to indoor living and has actually been
allowing her to approach and pet her. This really does give an
indication that with a properly understanding and patient home, Manyara
will do really well.

We feel that Manyara is a project, she needs to learn to be a pet. We
feel that patience and love will be rewarded. If you feel that Manyara
would be a good fit for your home, please email info@... and
tell us your location and give a description of your household and why
it would be great for Manyara.
Manyara is not available for shipping, and her adoption fee is $200.
