A cruel April Fools joke
2
I saw this on Facebook: We have some big news! Sabre is excited to announce that we are returning to our roots and reintroducing sailboat production. Our founding legacy was built on the craft of creating high-quality sailboats, and while we have evolved over the years, our commitment to excellence remains unchanged. With this new initiative, we are not only honoring our past but also setting a course for a future that blends traditional craftsmanship with modern innovation. Paint Job
5
Hey Sabre Crew, I'm planning to do a paint job on my hull next off-season, rub rail to waterline, and my mental wheels are turning on this topic. If anyone has an album of photos or videos of when they did theirs, I would love to see it. Also, any tips, tricks, tools, supplies, words of warning - all welcomed. Cheers. Max prop coming out of reverse issue

While looking for some other information on a PYI shaft seal, I found the instructions for feathering a Max Prop. Reduce speed with engine in gear. Stop engine. Wait a little. Shift to neutral. Here¡¯s the link to the FAQ page: Max-Prop FAQ's pyiinc.com Dave Second Star S362 #113 Fair Haven, NY/Lake Ontario On Mar 24, 2025, at 9:24 AM, Mark Fanning via groups.io <fanningiop@...> wrote: Looking for any advice on a current issue with my Max Prop Easy. We had to head straight into the wind, luff the sails, and about stop the boat to get the transmission to budge out of reverse. Resealing fixed port lights

Has anyone resealed the fixed port lights? Mine are leaking. Looking at the window it seems that just cutting the existing sealant should pretty much release it. Any pointers would be appreciated. thank you -- Michael Henning 1985 S36 Caper Allen Harbor, RI

426 outhaul line replacement
9
Our outhaul has been very difficult to operate recently, we had it apart briefly at the yard and the solution seems to be new line, and maybe blocks. Sadly I neglected to take any photos while the assembly was out of the boom. Searching the archives, I can¡¯t find anything specific to the 426 about the purchase - most mentions are for 34/36/38 - with 3:1 purchase. There are several mentions about using single braid, or dyneema as replacement, too. So two questions: 1. how much line / what is the purchase? We lead this back to the cockpit... 2. what type of line? ¡ªNeil neil dot e dot russell at gmail.com ¡°Whisper II¡± S426-034 Salem MA

402 head/shower drains
46
Hey all. New 402 owner here... Today, I noticed when water drains from the head or shower floor drain, the water enters the bilge area under the water heater. If there is enough water, it travels into the bilge where the dripless is and eventually to the bilge pump. Is this normal for a 402 (or any other model?). It seems like the drain lines would enter a thru hull just like the sinks. Attached is a photo with two white lines marked on it showing the two drain lines and a red line that shows the direction of travel to the bilge pump. Thanks in advance Scott Lady Superfine (Formerly Serenade) Hull #56 Sausalito, CA

S362 mast cradles for overland transport?
6
Does anyone have photos they can share regarding mast cradles for overland transport of a 30+ft Sabre with a 50+ft long mast? Specifically, I have a S362 with a 53ft mast, but I expect any Sabre over 30ft would be good construction examples. I'm hauling 30 city and highway miles to go from winter storage to launching yard. The binnacle & navpod frame is already at 13ft above road surface; the mast will need to skew to the side of that to stay under the road clearance issues on the route. I'm also interested how many support are advisable down the length of the deck, and the best locations for them. Doug Snell S362 #137 "OZ" South Portland, ME

Autopilot _ACU 100 OK_error msg_NO PILOT
5
So my local boat yard, Turner Maine, sent my ACU 100 to Raymarine for repair as they indicated it was the cause of the error msg at the Autohelm station, NO PILOT. Raymarine sent it back with a NO ISSUES FOUND but did update the software. Originally I was told, it would just be a lose wire, again by Turner Marine. Then the ACU went to Raymarine. This has been an open action item on my boat since Jan. 13th. I waited over a month for them to come trouble shoot the problem. Finally came, sent it off, no joy. Anyone have any clues where to start looking? Regards, Verne Royster MYC Mobile, AL

Icebox conversion for 1984 Sabre 28-3

Hello, I would like to convert my icebox on my 1984 Sabre 28-3 to a refrigerator to replace my cooler-sized refrigerator, which is taking valuable space. The vessel is already equipped with a 600-Watt solar system. The useable dimensions of the icebox are W19xD11xH18. Any recommendations? Ice Trays for 1989 Seafrost refrigeration
4
Hi All, One of my ice trays that attach to the side of the Seafrost refrigeration holding plate is leaking. There seems to be some sort of brown colored rubber seal along the joints connecting the 2 halves of the unit and the slow drip seems to be coming through this seal. I haven¡¯t contacted Sea Frost yet, just wondered if anyone was taking out an older Seafrost system and might have the ice trays left over. -- Pete Waterson ¡°Chardonnay¡± S38-2 Oriental, NC

S362 engine mount replacement
11
Hi all, I plan to replace my engine mounts since at least 1 appears broken (lots of rubber dust around it). Can anyone recommend which model should be used for a Westerbeke 35D? Current mounts have 5/8" stud and 5" on center between mounting bolts. I checked the archives and see people recommending the Dual-Flex 2205-2 but that model has 4" centers. Also when using the deflated basketball method of lifting the engine, are people lifting under the oil pan? That doesn't seem great but I don't see an alternative spot. Westerbeke W21 parts
I have a Westerbeke W21 that I have tore down and have many parts for it. I was told the motor ran before I bought it but the exterior was in fair to poor shape. I am only keeping the parts I know are reusable, and posting here if anyone is interested in any of these parts: Engine block with front cover, crankshaft pulley, oil pan, oil pump, crankshaft and pistons; cylinder head with rocker arms and valve cover; exhaust manifold; engine cooling water pump; engine cooling tubes (multiple); air intake silencer; air intake manifold; raw water pump; raw water pump drive gear assembly; Flywheel and Torque plate; transmission mounting plate, Hurth HBW50 transmission, and much more. Please message me if you need anything. -- Tim Dokken 1985 Sabre 32 #59 Bayfield, WI
