Re: Headliner for S452
David, thank you so much for the advice!. This morning I purchased Naugahyde from Sailrite, they have a great selection. I am curious to see how close match the color of the new material (BRIGHT WHITE) is to my 24-year old Naugahyde.
?
To gain some hands-on experience I will start with a few test-panels; a few pieces of plywood from Home Depot. First glue the 1/8" foam (purchased on Amazon - hope it can be used) onto the plywood and then glue the Naugahyde onto the foam. The trick is for how long to let the 3M 76 adhesive dry (on the 1/8" foam) before I roll the Naugahyde onto the foam. You only have one chance, as the 3M 76 adhesive sticks and grips right away. Pull off a misaligned or wrinkled first-try of the Naugahyde roll-on and the foam below rips (don't ask how I know).
?
After I feel I have it figured out I replace the real headliner (and some of the foam where damaged) on the plywood panels removed from the ceiling of the boat.?

Re: Paint Job
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýAlanI used Toplac to repaint a fiberglas shower base in situ. I just used an abrasive 3M pad and one coat of leftover interlux barrier coat for prep. The white Toplac brushed on and leveled beautifully. When we sold the house 11 years later, after countless human and dog showers, it still looked like new.? I used the exhaust fan and a 3M respirator while painting. The solvent is meanstuff. On Apr 1, 2025, at 4:45 PM, Alan via groups.io <alanpressman@...> wrote:

I¡¯ve been Investigating this too. I¡¯m liking what I hear about interlux toplac plus.? They say it¡¯s rolling without tipping. ? Also trying to track down their primer/undercoat that is called One Up.? It Eliminates some of the sanding beteeen coats and replaces their standard primer.? It seems to be available in Europe but not the US.? I¡¯m wondering if anyone has seen One Up in the states? On Sun, Mar 30, 2025 at 3:43?PM David Lochner via <davelochner=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Replcement SeaTalk GPS sensor
Not sure what chartplotter you have, but here¡¯s my experience with my ancient C80: The C80 will accept location coordinates on SeaTalk or 0183. But it prioritizes SeaTalk. To get my C80 to get coordinates on 0183, I had to physically disconnect the SeaTalk input. I now get coordinates on 0183 from my AIS and it works much better than the old Raystar.? But if it is connected to a Raystar GPS via SeaTalk it just sits there waiting for data from the Raystar.? David Castor? Port Angeles, Wash 1986 S32? Replcement SeaTalk GPS sensor
Our Raystar 125 GPS is not functioning. I replaced the battery, and I get the green LED indicator, but the chart plotter consistently states it has no GPS information. I haven't been able to find any information on how to troubleshoot the Raystar 125.
?
In looking for SeaTalk compatible GPS sensors, used Raystar 125's are pretty expensive.? However, several Chinese built GPS sensors seem to be Raymarine/SeaTalk compatible, like this one:
?
?
Has anyone had any experience with 3rd party SeaTalk compatible GPS sensors, and does anyone know if this Chinese GPS sensor, based on the noted specifics, "QU232U7 is an external GPS receiver, the protocol is NMEA 0183, the default baud rate is 4800" would work with an older Raymarine SeaTalk system?
?
Thanks,

Re: Headliner for S452
Jorgen - thanks for confirming Sabre used 3M Hi-Strength 90 on the headliners. It explains why the foam separated from the plywood substrate! Only the 3M Hi-Tack 76 is approved for bonding to polyethylene.
?
I second Dave¡¯s recommendation for using Sailrite. Excellent selection and DIY advice.?

Much of the vinyl material has separated and there are many sags and bubbles. All ceiling trim has now been removed, and I am taking down the 4-5 plywood pieces in the ceiling where the headliner is attached. I have purchased 3M adhesive #76 and #90. Glen Chaplin states Sabre uses (used?) 3M #90 for the headliner work in the factory.?My question is: I am asking this forum if you know where I can purchase the headliner material: NAUGAHYDE VINYL, BRIGHT WHITE SF-79 (thanks to Glen Chaplin at Sabre for the info). The NAUGAHYDE is glued to an 1/8 layer of white dense foam which again is glued to the plywood. I have purchased the foam, but all the NAUGAHYDE vendors I have checked to date only sell wholesale.?Also, as a backup, I am contemplating contacting an upholstery shop in the area (NY metro/NJ) to get some help with this project.??Any advice greatly appreciated.?Jorgen Naess2001 Sabre 452, VENTOWinter: Mamaroneck, NYSummer: Greenport, NY
