Snowy Owl has two shore power inlets, both are rated for 30 amps. The ?heaviest loads ?that run through shore 1 are ?the water heater and 110V refrigeration; shore 2 is dedicated to the A/C and is not connected to the inverter. ?
Shore 1 also supports all of the outlets on the boat. ?I certainly do not plan on using the water heater with the inverter. It would be great if the 110V refrigeration could be run from the inverter. I will need to check th nameplate on this system to get its max current ?draw. ?
My thought on sizing the transfer switch was to match or exceed the capacity of the input, 30 A. ?

Check the specs closely. The 16a may be a 240v 16a as Euro power comes in 16 and 32 amp versions of 240v single phase.

We had a similar situation on Isle of SKYE. We ended up donating our 4 person LR to a local youth sailing club to practice an abandon ship ( in the pool). Though years past the re-pack deadline, it worked perfectly for them. Im sure the provisions were
a tad stale.

yes I did that at the Y with some expired PFD's.? They both worked
which was good to know.? And yes enlightening as to your level of
maneuverability (not) in an inflated PFD.

Dan and Kika on Sailing Uma faced a similar situation. They anchored out in pretty calm waters and inflated the raft tried to live on it for 24 hours. It was enlightening. When my inflateable PDFs expire, we find warm water, don the vests and jump in. It is a refreshing experience.

The original Heart Interface Freedom 10 charger/invert, (1KVA) on my S402 has stopped functioning. It is located in a locker under the settee just forward of the Nav station. I was wondering what choices people have made for charger/inverts on the S402. The space in the existing locker about 16" L x11.5"w x 8" deep. is too short for any for the Victron offerings except their 3KVA Multiplus unit which looks to like it might fit but very close on the depth dimension. ?
Victron also is offering a new 1.2kVA unit that would fit nicely but its transfer switch capacity is only 16 A. ?

Last year I had upgraded the battery system to 4 -100 Ah LiFeP batteries with a Zeus regulator and a 170 amp alternator. This is all working great for how we use the boat. I was surprised how little power we actually use on a daily basis while cruising. ?Habits of cruising on boats with low capacity electrical systems don't just go away..
?
I would be delighted to hear what others have done.

Our solution is still a work in progress. The plan is to put a dam where the old sump box was located, let the water drain there and use a Whale low profile bilge pump to pump it up and out the sink drain. The dam is in and that is as far as the project has gotten

I find it difficult to believe that the
head drain ties into the wet exhaust. Pumping exhaust gases into
the head is not such a great idea.? Maybe it's the intake line for
the manual bilge pump?

Two considerations:? 1) go to a specialist like Fairclough. I have had a Fairclough frame and canvas on my 402 for 10 years. I'm in Toronto so at least 6 months of harsh winter. Has only needed minor repair.? Choice 2) buy a very cheap polyethylene tarpaulin in Canada we can get a 20ft X 40ft one? for less that $100 at Canadian Tire.? It may only require a partial frame that can be made with 2x4's or PBS. You can replace every year.? Just some things to consider. Mike Sabre 402 #37 Lake Ontario

Depends on if you want custom forever, ?custom lasts well, or DIY. ?I made mine from the diy description on Sailrite and have been very pleased. ?One support PVC did break this winter 5 seasons already but the frame was cracked in the Fall so I risked too far. ??
not for the faint of heart but the fabric choice is excellent if you have it made of Aqualon.?  --

Yes it went in but on a slight angle with all the fixtures? facing the head. This made the connections all accessible from either the stairs or the head access panel.? I put a piano hinge on the bottom step so it could be easily opened for access. Just like the winch storage stair.? It also gave me a place to store the empty wine bottles and beer cans.? The hoses were long enough to be connected.? Having the stair access makes it very easy disconnect the water system to install a bypass for winterizing and draining.? Mike Sabre 402 #37?? I am not at the boat now to measure the space. How are your Isotemp heaters mounted - sideways, i.e. with the pipes pointing toward the shower, or with the pipes pointing forward?
