Re: Sabre 402 seacocks

The seacocks that are in the aft lazarette are only for the deck and cockpit scuppers. If you have overboard discharge, that seacock should be accessible via an access port in the shower. You then likely have two under the Q berth. One for the head pick up and one for the fridge water cooling pump. Underneath the head sink, there is a seacock for the sink and shower discharge.?

That should cover all of the seacocks in the back half of the boat. As for your propane locker, it¡¯s not ideal, I agree. I took mine out this offseason and when I reinstalled it, I did it with gasket tape as opposed to a bedding compound. This allows me to get in there a bit easier if I have to.?

Good luck with whatever you¡¯re working on.?

I may be remembering incorrectly, but I believe that the starboard cockpit drain connects to the seacock for the port drain. ?Still not great, but easier than getting over to the exhaust and autopilot ram. ??

Edited

I go with the approach Larry Davis suggested.? Also someone on here suggested (remove the pump) using a flex head rathering wrench - works a treat.

Re: impeller access in Westerbeke 35B 3 in Sabre 362

Paul,

As you can tell from the replies, this is not an easy task.? I highly recommend replacing with an impeller from Globe.? They are made from a different material and last much longer.? I only replace every three years now instead of every year.??

Re: Mast VHF Coaxial cable

I suggest using RG213 - I have used this on my last boat and installing into my 38.
I would be up in Georgian Bay and get clear signals from Port Huron.

I used pool noodles in the bottom half of my mast to reduce slapping inside the mast.
I forgot about that until this thread reminded me.

Head sink drain plumbing

I changed the head joker valve and deep cleaned the head area, pumping the floor rinse water through the shower sump. The pump threw water violently out of the sink drain. The under-sink plumbing is a mess, complete with RTV. Pump is a Jabsco 50880-1000 Shower Sump Pump. There is a bronze check valve 6" above the thru-hull that I assume the PO added to prevent flooding during heel. The back pressure may be the cause of the violence.
?
I recall, but can't find a post 2-3 years ago showing a nice replumbing of this area. Can anyone please point me to this or another solution?
?

Rhode River is a nice anchorage. Stayed there a couple of days last October. The Smithsonian Environmental Center is there and an interesting project. Nice trails to stretch your legs on.

Purchasing a boat on the east coast and will be sailing back to Chicago later this summer assuming the Erie Canal reopens.? I¡¯m planning on getting as far as Cleveland, storing her there for winter and finishing the trip next summer.? Or maybe a yard near Sandusky would be less expensive?
