I have heard that some people have cut out and installed an?access panel under the cockpit sole to improve future serviceability—worth considering since you have a big fix??

Anyone ever done it ??

The old stuff box tube looked old and original so decided to replace it.? ? Turned the stuffing box tube and the working end of the shaft log broke off.? The fiberglass was delaminated and infiltrated which caused the break.? ?Damn good thing this did not happen in the water.? ?Would have sunk the boat.

Hole saw and sawzall took care of the old tube.? ?Now replacing.? ?Has anyone done this work?? CatalinaOwners group sells Centek tubes.? Think I need 1 3/4 OD which they don't seem to list.
