Hello!

?

My husband and I are (sadly) selling our 1998 Sabre 402. It's been set up to sail single-handed also (we set it up for us to doublehand, and often one of us would disappear downstairs while the other was sailing).?

?

She's not on YachtWorld yet, but Allison Lehman is our broker. She will be listed soon, I'm sure, and I don't expect it will take long for her to leave us.?

?

She's in outstanding shape, has a fin keel, and a full new Victron electrical system. We've done lots of good upgrades to her also ... New canvas and dodger too!

?

Anyway, thought I'd throw that out there. We are bummed to sell her (we have a cruising boat in Europe, and that's where we are focusing our cruising now).?

?

Best of luck with your search!

I am 80 and still single hand sail my 402. I also raced singlehanded in the Lake Ontario short handed racing series (LOSHRS). Those races were long distance across the lake or in one case 100 miles. I found that the heavy displacement of the 402 gave me a very stable platform when the lake got rough.? The lighter "go fasts" bounced around and were uncomfortable.? You will probably have to do a bit of re-rigging to get lines to the cockpit and to customize top your liking.??

The boat is really comfortable to sail has a good rating that makes it very competetive.? I don't always do well in light air (heavy boat) but when the wind gets up to 15-20 knots I do very well.? Go for it.?

This question is specifically for 402 owners. After a 10 year hiatus from sailboat ownership after selling my Sabre 362 in 2015, I am considering buying a Sabre 402.? I am curious if many (any) 402 owners single hand their boats?? I frequently singlehanded my former 362 and am wondering if it is more difficult or challenging on a 402.? My background- late 50¡¯s, relatively athletic, started with a Sabre 28, upgraded to a 362, since selling the 362 raced as crew on an IMX 40.? I understand everyone¡¯s skills and comfort levels are different so any and all thoughts welcome.
