Re: S362 main hatch model

OK, I think people are getting the wrong idea here. I am not trying to replace a lens or what Lewmar refers to as a lid, which is the top the frame around the lens and the handles. I merely had this experience and found it rather odd that they wouldn¡¯t sell just the lens

? You know you can buy the whole lid/ top by itself. . You get glass, gasket, handles, the works for not a lot of money compared the hassle of doing everything piece by piece or a whole new hatch.?

I¡¯m not sure if there are handles or other additions to your hatches and Allison tells me only Hatchmaster can do the refurb that we know of in the U.S. ?Can someone send a photo why the polycarbonate can¡¯t be replaced? This is not a rework of the handles. The rubber gaskets can be found on Amazon readily.?

In the S28-2 and S36 from 1987 I have had success with prying out the old polycarbonate and replacing with 1/4¡± Polycarbonate stock from this company that purchased a small buffalo branch and shipped from their Nationwide stock. ?The material is easy to use a basic jig saw and sander for precise measuring.?

I got a semi reflective darker color of my choice. ? I did pry out the original polycarbonate bedded in something similar and have the frames sandblasted and powder coated by a steel fence maker locally for less than the average boat bucks. ?For reference here¡¯s the approx. $60 per hatch plus shipping on the order. ?Bedded with Dow 795, ?use a cleaner on your gloved finger to smooth it, ?the first one I did is over 10 years old not leaking and the new set is 4 years old this year. The sand blast and ?paint job is the real benefit but I would like to protect the poly with something like this:?
Anyone ever used these??

Hi Ted,
Oh that is right, thanks for jogging my memory.? You can¡¯t buy lenses from them they want you to buy the whole lid assembly.

Hi Allison,
I think Lewmar calls them lids, not lenses.? My mistake.
