Hello everyone,
I bought a Shari kit at the Fort Wayne Hamfest. I soldered it together and it was almost working. It was receiving audio from the HT but wasn't transmitting any audio out from allstar. After looking it over I had more solder than I needed around the radio chip. I got some of the extra solder off, the stuff that was also touching the shield and after doing that, it worked!I suspect that something was grounding out on the sheild.

I plan to use this as a portable allstar node and have it setup to connect to my wifi hotspot on my phone.

73,
-Ed, KE8ANU ?

Hi Ed,
This is Steve - N8AR, the designer of SHARI.? Thank you for the feedback. I'm glad you found the problem and got your kit working.? I actually had that same problem on one I built.? ?I will put a note in the construction manual about this possibility.? I can be found on node 29789 (N8SL repeater) if you would like to chat sometime.

73,
Steve - N8AR

Hi Ed, welcome to Allstar and Shari. If I can help in anyway please let me know. I hang out on 50026 (W8DSB) most afternoons. In this file section there is a quick start quide that can help you get your echolink and supermon also working via the same node.

I have an echolink question for you.
If I use my phone as a wifi hotspot to connect my portable allstar node to, will echolink still work with a - R login if I can't configure port forwarding for it??
I am thinking it will not work, but incase I'm wrong, please let me know. I already have echolink set up and working on my allstar node at my qth with a -L login.

Incoming Echolink will rarely work using a cell phone. If you desire too have incoming echolink while portable. I would setup a headless node at home with allstar and echolink with your -R then connect to it using your portable SHARI node on allstar. ?People can dial into your (open port) home node via allstar or echolink and you will hear then via your portable setup in the Vehicle. This is how our club is doing it as we cannot dial into the repeaters cell router with echolink.

That makes sense. Thank you for the information. I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving.
