Mike VK2AMF (satisfied customer of the genuine older SHARI). Comment by N8AR: I was only able to communicate with Amazon via "Chat".? I explained to them the non- compliance problems with Part 97 Spurious Emissions and FCC authorization (see message 2661?/g/SHARI/message/2661?)? They told me my information would be sent to the legal team but I would receive no communication from Amazon about it.. At 07:52 AM 1/01/2023, you wrote: Hi Mike, |

Configuring AURSINC Shari PiHat - Portable SR-FRS1W Ham Allstar Radio Interface Compatible with Raspberry Pi 2/3/4
#Allstar_Setup
Hello fellow members,
My first time here and I need your help. I recently purchased the AURSINC Shari PiHat - Portable SR-FRS1W Ham Allstar Radio Interface Compatible with Raspberry Pi 2/3/4 from amazon. I am using the latest image from hamvoip,?RPi-Z2W-2-3-4_V1.7-01_Allstar with my RPi 3B+. Following the setup procedures found in HamVOIP, I was able to run through all the configurations except the SA818 Program with the following error:?? Sending Frequency, Sub Audible Tone, and Squelch Information...
Frequency, Sub Audible Tone, and/or Squelch information were incorrect
Command Sent:
? ? ? ? AT+DMOSETGROUP=1,438.0155,438.0155,0000,1,0000
Any idea? I captured the screen from MobaXterm, see below: . ? |
Re: Can not change frequency or CTSS code
Hi Steve
? ? ?Sorry did not know about the difference and that the unit is not supported by you. Like said in my post I am new to this Allstar stuff.? The unit was bought for me as a Christmas present by a family member and sent to me. I will speak to him tonight or tomorrow and have him return it and get his money back. Once he does, I will have him buy it from you so I can get the support I need. Thanks again Mike |

Which version of SA818-prog are you using?
You can get the latest, 2.01, from the files section of this group: /g/SHARI/files/SA818-prog2.01.py The latest version correctly formats the frequencies to four decimal places. My guess is that you are using an older version of the SA818-prog, and you entered a frequency like "446.10000", which in not programmable. You should enter it as "446.1000". The folowing comment is by N8AR: The older versions up to 1.08X will allow you to mistakenly enter five decimal places and will actually successfully program the SA818.? This was accidently done by a SHARI owner.? However, it results in a terrible buzz on the RX audio which is immediately fixed by reprogramming to four decimal places. |
Re: Can not change frequency or CTSS code
Hello Mike. I had the exact same issue when I bought a Shari device from amazon. Something about theirs is no longer compatible with the current ham VoIP software. I ended up sending mine back. Ordered one from assembled for same price. On top of that you're not going to get any better support then you get from Steve N8AR... Re: Can not change frequency or CTSS code
Hi Mike,
I can not find any record in our database of you purchasing a genuine SHARI PiXX from Kits for Hams ().? If this is incorrect, please let us know by sending an email to kitsforhams@....? So, since you said it is new, I am guessing that you have purchased the Chinese knock-off clone of our SHARI - probably from Amazon.? This Chinese seller not only tried to copy our hardware design, they call it SHARI and are directing purchasers to us for documentation and support!? Pretty bold!? I will say that this programming problem is unique to the Chinese clone as your input looks correct and any version of SA818-prog will program a genuine SHARI for valid frequencies in the 2 meter or 70 cm ham bands.. After testing this Chinese clone about a year ago (when the SA818-prog program did work), I? posted? (see message 2661), about the problems with this Chinese clone rip-off of our SHARI including the fact that the one I tested does not comply with the spurious emissions requirements of the Part 97 rules and regulations for ham radio and can be programmed outside the allocated ham bands but does not have FCC authorization for use on these frequencies - both of which made it illegal for sale in the US. As I have stated before in previous messages on this group, we do not intend to support this Chinese clone.? We have a database of all of our SHARI purchasers and if we cannot verify you are a SHARI owner by looking at our list, we will contact you for verification.? I also ask that you spread the word about the support issues and technical problems with this Chinese clone.?? To all of our genuine SHARI purchasers, thank you for your support.. Steve - N8AR |
Can not change frequency or CTSS code
New to this group and to Allstar
I purchased a Rasberry Pi2 and a Shari PiHat UHF,? NOT a kit and went by the directions multiple times and keep getting the following error (see Picture) Everything works on the default frequency and CTSS code but the default is out of band. I made connections and can hear other nodes so everything is working. I am thinking I must of skipped something in setup but just can figure it out. Any suggest would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks Mike, N2GMU?? |

Re: Information were incorrect

We need Steve N8AR to step in. I believe he has set up the frequency setting program... so that out of band (may be this is SAT sub band) cannot be programmed.
Try 440.44000 ? That's what I use and it works.. I vaguely recall something about not being able to program every frequency the SA-818 allows.. Are you sure yours is UHF???? Just covering bases... Larry W8LM |

Re: Node Connected Announcement
¿ªÔÆÌåÓýConnect.sh /Disconnect.sh will handle Allstar/echolink/IRLP and Extensions connect and disconnect announcements. if thru Hamshackhotline or HamsOverIP then you need to edit your extensions.conf file to remove lines that announce your node number. On 12/26/2022 1:18 PM, WD5M David M.

Re: SHARI PiHatU ... Red & Yellow led's not working - Solved
Larry,
I've never seen anyone use a Pi for Bitcoin. It's way too underpowered.? I'm frustrated by the supply shortages too, but that's not the issue.?? Your point about being for youth/students/schools is valid.? Which would make it not meant for us as well right? Let's just stay positive and focus on what we control.?? Mike |
