Re: Libre SBC, and also AURSINC Shari

Hello Steve/everyone.

Thanks for the detailed response back on the Aursinc.

It's a good thing that some new hams will ask about this first before they purchase.

Unfortunately not all of them ask first and purchased it immediately w/o researching it first.

My initial experience with the SHARI was I heard it on the air after I had my ClearNode. And wanted another AllStar node. After some research on YouTube and the Internet. Found out it's a legitimate product.

The Customer Support was Truly Exceptional as it is highest customer service rating.

I initially bought the SHARI Pi4U and after a year purchase the PiHat.

So I have 2x SHARI already can be view on my QRZ page.

I totally recommend any New Ham the SHARI for quality, reliability after it been fully configured. Plus the savings on building your own or fully assembled.

Stay Safe.

Hmm, AllStar was originally written for the i386 architecture, and later was ported to run on x86_64 and ARM.? You may be talking about HamVoIP, but there's nothing stopping one from attempting to use ASL on an x86_64 with a USB SHARI.? ASL does work with a SHARI (I use ASL, not HamVoIP on a Pi myself), and the configuration tools for the SA-818 are written in Python, so I can't see why it wouldn't work.

Out of curiosity, which mesh system are you using?

I try to use Ethernet wherever I can, but if I must use WiFi, and it doesn't move around too much, I make sure to lock the device to the closest access point in my Ubiquiti UniFi control, so it doesn't try to roam. While I really haven't experienced any major problems with WiFi on Allstar nodes using the Ubiquiti UniFi UAP-AC-M initially, then the U6 Pros I have now, I also don't have a PiHat Neo configuration specifically. I've had no problem maintaining connections to nodes via WiFi for months at a time with my Pi 3a+, 3B and Zero 2 W nodes. Likewise, I can leave an active SSH session open for very long periods of time.

Hi:

As of now, these won't work.

HamVoIP only runs on rPi Zero 2, 2, 3A+, 3B, 3B+, 4, 400, CM3 and CM4... I think that's the complete list, or close to it. AFAIK, you probably won't do any better with ASL either, unless you run it on x86/64.

I hear that there may soon be a new HamVoIP image for alternative ARM SBC's, so stay tuned.
