Re: Received My SHARI Yesterday - This Thing is Awesome!
Hey Steve, There are a few reasons why it would be nice to have a 2m version available:

Hi Andrew,
I am delighted that you like your SHARI kit that I assembled for you.? We can thank W0ANM for the "818-prog" program to setup the SA818U and? Doug and his development team at HamVOIP for the ease of setting up Allstar! Currently I have no plans to offer a 2 meter version.? I am curious why you might be interested in a 2 meter version. 73, Steve - N8AR |
Received My SHARI Yesterday - This Thing is Awesome!
Just wanted to say thanks for the SHARI!? I didn't have high expectations when ordering, but was blown away after hooking up the product & using it.? It was super easy to program, and the instructions are top notch.? There wasn't a single detail overlooked.? And the quality control... I don't know of anyone else that individually?tests each product, and provides detailed specs as far as even letting you know how many db down the 2nd and 3rd harmonics are.? You just can't go wrong at this price point.? I'm going to recommend the SHARI to everyone I know! Any plans on releasing a VHF version? I know there is a SA818 VHF module available. Thanks again & 73! Andrew Sylthe KC9ONA |
The instructions for the setup and the construction of the SHARI are awesome.
I bought a SHARI kit from Steve (N8AR) and Alex last weekend at the Hazel Park swap meet. Steve asked me to download and follow the instructions for the construction and setup of the SHARI and let him know if they made sense and they were easy to follow. Here is my report Steve, The instructions for both construction and setup were spot on and easy to follow, I had the SHARI built and on the air in no time at all and it worked the first try. I am very happy with the SHARI and I will tell other people about it, Thanks for all the hard work on this product Steve. Terry N KE8GXK 73 |

Indeed, yes exactly what you describe but the delay is as if the SHARI¡¯s RF module is the one going to sleep then waking. ? Example. ? If I inject a tone and transmit with SHARI receiving. It opens up on ALLStar then the tone follows shortly after. ? Another, ?If someone on the ALLStar side ¡°Quick Keys¡± I.e. talking at the same time they begin transmission the transmitter opens and the audio then fades in. ? This behavior is heard by all on ALLStar and more than one radio local to the SHARI ?so I am confident that the ¡®Sleep¡¯ appearance is the SHARI¡¯s RF component. ? Also as said earlier research of the NiceRF SA-818 reveal same behaviors.? That research does not hint at a fix though. Was hoping SHARI specific users may have identified and engineered a fix.? -Brad On Thu, Dec 19, 2019 at 12:05 AM N8AR <n8ar73@...> wrote: Are you referring to the audio that you hear on your radio when SHARI transmits? I use a Kenwood TH-F6A for my HT.? If I have the battery saver enabled? I sometimes miss the first part of the audio when SHARI transmits until the receiver on my HT samples the frequency at the battery saver interval I have scheduled. |
Re: Unable to access 818-prog -SOLVED
This error indicates that the 818-prog application was not able to communicate with the USB to serial converter integrated circuit (CH340G) on SHARI.? Larry reinspected his USB connector soldering and found a problem.? He can now successfully run the 818-prog application to program the SA-818 radio module.

All of the configuration went well until I attempted to configure the Shari unit itself.? The following describes the errors I get.? Any clues as to what I did wrong?

Re: DTMF issue with Baofeng
#DTMF_Problems
Try setting Menu item (DTMFST) 16 to OFF.? The problem I had came from the feedback loop of the audible tones being picked up by the hot mic.? Simply muting the tones with this setting fixed it.? The DTMF functions, controlled by my UV5R, work fine on my SHARIs now.
Here is the manual info for this setting: DTMF Tone of transmit?? -? Determines when DTMF codes are heard through speaker. ?? OFF?????? No tones heard ?? DT-ST??? Only manually keyed DTMF codes are heard ?? ANI-ST?? Only automatically keyed DTMF codes are heard ?? DT+ANI?? * All DTMF codes are heard Pete. . . WJ8I |
Newbie Question
Sent this message earlier but system didnt think I was subscribed.. I have read that the Radio module has delays in opening and receiving in other forums.? My guess is it goes to sleep to conserve power.? Has anyone else detected the slight delay when receiving or transmitting through the SHARI? BTW to the designer,? I purchased all three products and have to say you have done one fantastic job!? Love them. -Brad? W4INT |
