I use Win32DiskImager which works to read and write. It saves a complete image. To restore an image, just put the SD card in and restore it. When is says "Okay" it is ready for the SD card to go into the Pi. Easy as Pi.

I make an image of existing configuration with win32 disk imager.

that allows you to say 1 line. my way allows multiple lines to be read. you can modify what I wrote to accommodate your needs

you can set my crontab I sent you up as a script or as a macro either way it would work the same.

I've thought of the two step approach (ie script + crontab, however, as stated, I've had this working before without doing that. Also, there is no need to go to the extra effort of converting a file to wav or ul when there is already a Hamvoip solution to speak text - speaktext.sh.

SHARI - RF Connector J3 Failure - Loose insert

Greetings fellow Shari users!

The RF connector (part J3) consists of the main housing and an insert. When installing you cannot see the insert. My observation is that if the antenna is disconnected a few times, the insert becomes very loose and eventually will release from the housing.

I began to use a 3rd party (MFJ 1717S) rubber duck antenna on a mag mount that I connected to the Shari. It works great, gives about 2dB gain and has increased the range of the hotspot. I can hear it about 5km (3mi) from my home QTH and get into it from the same distance with my 5W mobile rig. I have done testing over the past year and have switched the stock and my other antenna in and out a few times. After about 5 swaps, the insert becomes quite loose. How I know this is that the partial disconnection becomes an apparent grounding issue and the s/n ratio of the hotspot skyrockets. There is a very loud hum that is much louder than the incoming signal. I have had QSO's with other stations when this occurs and they say my signal and audio are still very good. They cannot hear the hum.

This has occurred twice and each time I was able to reseat the insert. CAUTION! If this happens to you, do NOT use only pliers to reseat the insert or the threads will be damaged. I have a pair of tweezers meant for picking up small parts that has flat surfaces on the end that completely cover the insert. I place the insert into the connector, cover it with the tweezers then apply pressure with the pliers to reseat the insert. Issue resolved...until the next time the insert becomes loose ;-)

I hope this helps others.

Re: SHARI PiHat & Transceive App (MacBook) #HamVOIP_or_ASL_image_support

Problem Solved.

There are three lines of new parameters that must be placed in the HamVoIP rpt.conf file.? I put them in the wrong place.? In the HamVoIP version of that file, there are TWO sections to provide for use of two nodes on the same network.? The first section is for node 1...my active node.? The second section is for node 2.? I inserted the new parameters at the bottom of the file which is for node 2.? Relocating the parameters near the top in the configuration section for node 1 resolved the problem.

Now Transceive works perfectly.

Gary

SHARI PiHat & Transceive App (MacBook) #HamVOIP_or_ASL_image_support

Good Afternoon All,

I received my new a couple of days ago.? I installed/configured HamVoIP 1.7 and all seems normal when using DTMF commands or manually typing commands via the Asterisk CLI Client.? I also use the (MacBook) to control/access various AllStar Link nodes including my own.

Transceive is a wonderful GUI app that just makes using ASL a pleasure when radio-based use is too challenging.? Transceive can access the PiHat node using the username/password I set up for Transceive access (iax.conf).? However, once I connect to the PiHatnode and I select the node I wish to link to, the target node does not respond...none do.? No link happens.? No errors are shown.? No connection failed messages, etc.? If I attempt to connect to other nodes, linking is near instantaneous and just works.? All the usual tweaks of various conf files (on the PiHat node) to work with Transceive have been made including those identified regarding HamVoIP 1.7 on the Transceive website.? I have contacted the author of Transceive and he is puzzled as well.

My other nodes (not HamVoIP) work fine with Transceive.

Has anyone else experienced this behavior between Transceive and HamVoIP 1.7.? Any thoughts on what to check, change, etc?? Thank you.

Gary AK4ZX

Re: Time/ID cron command will not execute

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

you have to convert text to a wav or ul file for it to play.? Here is a script that works for you.

nano time_date_text.sh
place following lines into it

tts_audio.sh $1.txt
/usr/local/sbin/saytime.pl 45840 node number
asterisk -r -x "rpt playback node number $1"

change node number to your node number

CTRL X to save it
CHMOD +X time_date_text.sh

Create a text file with what you want to say
make sure to only put the path and the filename of the text file DO NOT USE the .txt extension

?ex: /etc/asterisk/local/test

crontab -e

00 7-22 * * * /etc/asterisk/local/time_date_text.sh test

this will be played every hr from 7 am till 10 pm

hope this helps

Wow! Hashish???? Sorry about that. My spell check app must be out having a great time on a Saturday night!

Once again without the weed...

What HAPPENS if you move the " > /dev/null" outside of the last parenthesis?

Can you create a third script that calls the two original scripts in order?

Apologies...

Re: Time/ID cron command will not execute

Hi Mark,

As stated earlier, if you want them on the same line, you need to separate them with semicolons and use the full path of the second script.

Alternatively, just add a sleep to the beginning of one and have them on separate lines.

Fundamentally, your issue is a lack of separator and lack of full path. My previous example didn¡¯t work because I didn¡¯t know what your path needed to be.

Re: Allstar Node died 24 hours after SHARI Pi3V install

What¡¯s funny is I actually use my truck USB ports, with a script that monitors the output of a relay tied to the trucks 12V system. The relay fires when the voltage on the truck drops below 13.1V, which triggers a proper shutdown on then Pi.?

The other option is to mount your root and boot file systems as read-only, with all updates stored in RAM, and let things shut down as they will. No data corruption.?

Re: Allstar Node died 24 hours after SHARI Pi3V install

I too use the Vilros for my Pi3b+ and a USB SHARI?

I have no power issues, I was using a 2A thing and it kept telling my low voltage in the dmesg and corrupting my images.

I was concerned about the switch but that was short lived. Worth the money in my eyes??

Re: Allstar Node died 24 hours after SHARI Pi3V install

Thanks so much for all the replies.? Finished reconfiguring last night and all back to normal.? Once I get iax and zoiper working on my devices I'll be sure to make an image of the SD card so I don't have to that again.

I have been using the good 3A power supply with the switch since day one so should be good there.

Be well everyone,
Rich, AA3RC

Re: Allstar Node died 24 hours after SHARI Pi3V install

At 4 for $10 I think you are still buying 4 times the trouble. After all, they are used SD cards. Buy the Sandisk Industrial SD cards. They are much more rigid and made for industrial applications. The cost about $7 each for 8 gig cards and are worth it.

The other thing, and I see this for other uses, such as IRLP, is MAKE BACKUPS!!! Can't say it enough there is always someone who has a bad SD card or messed up something. They never have a back up. Should ALWAYS have no less than one backup. Another tool to use for backups is pishrink. Saves a lot of storage space. With pishrink and WinZip, you can shrink an 8 gig file to just under 1 gig. Saves a lot of hard disk space.

I don't really understand this ". . . have a in line on off switch which puts less stress on the micro USB power . . .". I would NEVER suggest a power supply with an on/off switch inline. You and I know what is going to happen with that. People are going to use it to turn the Pi off and then corrupt their SD card by not doing a proper shut down.

For power supplies, we suggest the official Raspberry Pi power supplies with you adding the ferrite we supply with the SHARI's

They are $8 from most Raspberry Pi authorized suppliers
